I purchased these primarily for use with my hearing aids, so I didn't have to remove my hearing aids to use a handsfree device with my phone. Holding a phone against hearing aids isn't particularly comfortable, and the microphone of the hearing aid is located behind the ear so the purpose of a hearing aid is often defeated when using a phone anyway. Secondarily, I wanted a pair of headphones that would allow me to hear the outside world while running or working, and I had observed many tradesmen with this type of headphone on job sites.
I was rather surprised to hear a very audible "Power On" when I fired them up for the first time in my hand, knowing that they were intended to be bone conductive. I figured that maybe the speaker driver would produce a little bit of sound, but didn't expect it to be that audible. Prior to wearing them, I fired up some music to see if the "Power On" prompt was perhaps just an exception. As the music began to play, I could hear the headphones at an arm's length away. Okay, clearly they're pushing air a little more than I expected with a bone-conductive device.
I first tried them while wearing my hearing aids. Putting them on, I noticed that if I wear them too far forward and actually on the temporal bone, there is very little sound that I can hear (it seems that it's not being conducted through the bone, but that I'm hearing it through air-conduction). Also, in testing the bone conductivity of them, I tried placing the drivers directly on the mastoid bone behind the ear. I heard nothing through the bone at all. When I place them on the flesh between the temporal bone and the tragus of the ear, I could hear the headphones the best.
When removing my hearing aids, the sound of the headphones changed drastically. It was obvious that the hearing aids were amplifying the sound coming from the headphones. Were the headphones actually conducting primarily through bone, this should not be the case. The hearing aids are designed to amplify sounds coming through the air via a microphone and an audio processor. My hearing aids shouldn't be amplifying "bone-conducted" signals.
If I hold the drivers directly over the ear canal without allowing them to rest on the flesh between the tragus and the temporal bone, they actually sound better than when they're resting on my head. Another indicator that they aren't really bone conductive.
What I do like about them:
They're pretty lightweight. They press against my head with enough tension to not jostle around when jumping up and down or shaking my head, but also not so much pressure as to cause a headache. From what I can tell, they appear to be fairly well sealed to be sweat resistant. I have used them for hands-free calling several times now and nobody on the other end has complained about their fidelity, and I can hear the other party well enough.
TL;DR: In the end, I don't think it's fair to call these "bone conductive". They're more like "loud headphones" that are designed to sit near enough your ear canal so that you can hear the output. As such, people within a couple of feet will probably be able to hear what you're listening to, much in the way that you can hear what someone using cheap "on ear" headphones turned up too loud is listening to. So if you're using them on a bus, or train, or in a quiet room, you're going to get glances. As for running and still being able to hear my surroundings: yes, they'll work. But I lose a lot of fidelity when taking out my hearing aids, which shouldn't be the case with something truly bone conductive. My air-bone conductivity gap is nearly 0, so I should "hear" about the same from a air-conductive device and a bone-conductive device.

What I like about it is that I can wear it without the usual discomfort associated with ear plugs left in for an extended time. I can wear this all day and even forget I have it on. Because it sits just in front of the ear, everything naturally heard is not blocked at all. I was discussing some work related issues with a customer and forgot that the music I was hearing was from my Bluetooth device... it was like ambient music one might hear in some public place.
What I dislike is the volume limit. It really could be louder, especially when taking a phone call while driving in my truck. Having the windows down and hearing a phone call is very difficult. Have to move it over the ear and press it close to use in those cases.
He doesn't stop praising them for working great!
Does what it says on the tin :)
