If you're struggling with restrictive eating or a workout habit that you can't seem to shake no matter how badly your body wants (or more likely NEEDS) a break, then this read is for you. I encourage you to check out her podcast as well since that's what originally inspired me to take a look at what I was putting myself through day in and day out.
Great job, Maddy! And congratulations on truly being an inspiration.
I've been a fitness/health professional for over 25+ years. I'm in my late 40s and have struggled with disordered eating for about 30 years. I find Maddy's story to be useful, inspiring, and honest. Since she is still very new to her recovery, I look forward to following her journey. She's got a long road ahead of her with lots of "life experiences" that will throw her for a loop.
Maddy's courage in writing this book is inspirational. If more of us who suffer at the hands of media's merciless daily attack on our bodies (which all of us do) spoke out about them, maybe the world would be a different place.
And even for those who haven't directly struggled with disordered eating or body image, this book contains important information. We all need to understand that the things we see every day related to our appearance and diet can be extremely damaging, no matter what your background is. I can't recommend this book enough. Please take the time to read!!
