From the Author
I wrote Confessions of an Imperfect Caregiver for caregivers, those who will become caregivers, and those who one day need care. I want to share our story so people understand how hard it is and also what a gift it can be to care for a loved one at home.
Caregivers are not saints or superheroes.Caregivers are ordinary people of all ages, in all walks of life, from all over the world doing the hardest job we will ever love.
About the Author
Intrigued by TV doctors, Bobbi Carducci told everyone she was going to be a brain surgeon when she grew up. When she couldn't bring herself to cut up a frog in biology class she realized she had to find another way to get inside people's heads and became a writer instead.
Bobbi was an in home caregiver for her serious ill father-in-law, Rodger, for seven years. Confessions of an Imperfect Caregiver is the first book in a planned Caregiver series depicting the true stories of people caring for loved ones at home.
Caregiving comes naturally to Bobbi. "I come from a long line of caregivers, starting with my Great Grandmother's sister, Nellie, who took in my grandmother's newborn sister when their mother died in childbirth. Since then every generation has had at least one person caring for loved ones. Family takes care of family is ingrained in our beliefs. That doesn't mean it's right for everyone. Being a home caregiver is incredibly hard and no one should feel guilty if they choose to allow others to step in. Not everyone is cut out to wrestle alligators while herding a dozen cats and being constantly tuned in to another's needs when sleep deprived and in desperate need to go to the bathroom."

I roared with laughter when I read about "Happy Hour" with her father and father-in-law.
The tale was extremely well written.
I do have to say though that towards the end there was a tad (a lot!) too many prayers that were written in such a way that seemed to be self-serving or disingenuous enough to belie the "Imperfect" part of the "Imperfect CareGiver". Seems to me she was praying for something close to asking to be perfect in her care of her father-in-law. Hmmph.
But that being said, I commend her for her care of her father-in-law and I commend Ms. Carducci for this great story. This is a story that anyone who is a caregiver currently (or may become a caregiver) would be very well served by reading it. It touches on the frustrations and joys (yes, there are some!) of care-giving.
