Norm and his staff were gracious in my visit and did not have any attitude about being a "guitar to the stars" shop.
In fact, Norm had just gotten some collection of super rare arch tops (really one of a kind stuff) and he enthusiastically showed it off and let me play several of them. These things probably did end up in the hands of music royalty but I had the opportunity to play them.
I have a decent guitar collection and everything Norm says about the disease is true. The old guitars just sound better.
I'm not rock royalty, just a music fan that loves rock, blues, Fender and Gibson. I'm already looking forward to my next trip to the store and maybe I won't get cold feet on a big purchase next time.
Hearing the old stories about how this was all done pre-internet was a hoot and all the celebrity stories are fun.
Thanks for a great mini-escape Norm!
Frequently I read books by industry insiders and I feel like I learned something. Maybe more product details or some tidbit that made me say "Wow, that's interesting...didn't know that!" Nothing like that here. I came away feeling like I just read the newspaper rather than an industry journal, if you know what I mean.
