"We plan to re-adopt The Confident Writer as the text for our first-level writing course. It offers an excellent introduction to writing, is helpful in building the students' confidence as a writer, causes them to explore new subjects and allows them to discover how to effectively organize and communicate their message through writing. Important for our needs, also, is the fact that this text meets the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students, particularly in the choice of readings."
"Kanar is a handy, one-volume text which does a bit of everything. The readings are short and easily understood by most students in a beginning writing class, and the questions before and after the essays are clear."
"I love The Confident Writer. I have used it many times over many editions and found it useful for our ENG 090 students."
"The organization of the chapters is effective; the inclusion of multiple exercises in each chapter is helpful; and the unit on grammar and sentence structure is a definite asset." --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.
