But that’s obviously not why I read this book. I had heard that the material in the book is very relevant to the parents themselves, not just the children. And not only parents with teenage children either. And it is. A bit like puppy school is more for the dog owners than the dogs, this book is for parents positioning and improving their relationship handling skills to be able to raise better children and be better all-round people other roles in life too.
I really found the conflict handling chapter essential material for all that ever interact with other human beings and find themselves in a conflict situation with children, family, friends, colleagues, staff or bosses. Basically everybody on the planet...
Leeza Steindorf addresses present-day parenting issues and makes these accessible in such a way that you may improve any relationship. And she accomplishes this with you through a 110% commitment to clarity, ownership, resolution and excellence. She does write for an educated audience.
In her book, Leeza Steindorf teaches you important tools not only pertaining to your own role in raising your children, but, more importantly, she teaches you to practice with those insights. By using this book as a guide to involved parenting, you stand taller as a caring adult in your own family and in society. She uses examples from her own experiences and her own children to illustrate how you can change or discuss or tackle varying sets of common (communication) mishaps.
Because she gives you current challenges, I was able to use much of her advice and suggestions for interacting with others and myself.
My favorite chapter in her book is called Raising Self-Esteem. She clearly explains the concept and its effects through your self-image on your children (think others here as well). Then her accent boxes highlight the important aspects, followed up by suggestions to try these new concepts called Core Success Tools for You. Delving back into other aspects of self-esteem and how to positively influence those around you, she takes you through the necessary steps, patiently and one by one. By the end of the chapter, I was a believer. Connected Parent, Empowered Child: Five Keys to Raising Happy, Confident, Responsible Kids (A CORE Success® Guide) (Volume 1)
Thank you, Leeza Steindorf, for such a wonderful guide book!
