Zinsco is out of business, but was a major supplier of circuit breakers and breaker boxes. My whole neighborhood was built using them back in the 1950's. New old-stock breakers can still be found, but they are expensive, and frankly are the same breakers with the same quality and shortcomings. I bought the Connecticut breakers (30 amp 2-pole & 40 amp 2-pole, both for 240v) to replace two tired, worn-out Zinsco breakers that were not carrying the loads well anymore. The new breakers arrived very quickly, and although they looked quite different on the exterior from the originals, they fit perfectly and look to be better made. For example, the Zinsco used a mild steel strap wrapped around the switch handles to make both circuits open if just one side tripped. What this allowed in my case was just one breaker side was tripping, but the steel strap did not pull the other side open, leaving one side of the 240v circuit live. In my case that left an electric motor trying to start, but couldn't. This almost burnt the motor out. The new breakers use a metal pin through both switch handles; if one goes they both do. Simple change, big improvement in safety. Now, will the new breakers hold up? We'll see.

It now has been months since I replaced our bad Zinsco breakers with the new ones by Connecticut Electric, and the verdict is in: Flawless fit and performance. Not one problem or safety concern. The problems we had with the circuits opening and shutting off our appliances has been cured. These are high quality replacement breakers for the old Zinsco boxes, and even the price was very good. I recommend these circuit breakers.

This fit my Zinsco entry box without a problem. Took about 10 minutes to take out the old circuit breaker and install this. The shape of this breaker is slightly different than the old breaker I had to replace. The plastic housing on the clip (left in this photo) is raised whereas the old breaker had a slant to the plastic housing. This did not cause any problem other than the faceplate of the entry box was more difficult to place since the additional plastic on the housing prevented the face plate from being flush with the box until I screwed in the 4 bolts holding the face plate to the entry box.
It also seems to be better built than the original.
I recommend this to anyone with the ZInsco entry box.

This breaker is a direct replacement for Zinsco panels. Fits just fine and functions like the original. Unfortunately, Zinsco breakers are no longer available so you're stuck with these, or used originals.

Anyone with a home built in the 60's knows how expensive these Zinsco breakers are, if you can find them, in the box stores. I've bought several, original, refurbished breakers for my home and they work fine but they're really expensive too. These breakers are exactly like the original and the price no longer makes me want to rip my breaker box off the wall and replace it with a newer one!

This breaker is not identical in shape to the original Zinsco breaker it replaced. My breaker box is from the early 1950s. I had a breaker go bad and needed a replacement. This two single-pole 20 amp breaker is a good replacement for the bad one.

While it is not identical in shape, it fit my electrical panel well. Only difficulty I had was that the hole for the circuit/wire for one of the two breakers cannot be seen once the breaker is installed in the box. The hole is there, but the side (end) of the breaker body has a slant to it and the hold is on the back side of the slant, facing away from me.

The breaker functions as it should, and does fit my old Zinsco electrical panel. The difficulty I had installing one of the two circuits (due to the reason I listed above) is the only reason I did not give this five stars. I will not hesitate to purchase another one of these breakers should I need another.

My old 20 AMP Zinsco breaker stopped at the middle of Thanksgiving dinner prep due to too much load in the kitchen. The kitchen appliances shut down. I doubled up on another breaker to get things working temporarily. Bought this breaker the next day and got same day delivery from Amazon. Had to break pieces of the old Zinsco to get the thing out but it finally came out. Cleaned the buss bars, used a little grease and this one slid in perfectly. Everything is working well. The lower wire hole was a little difficult to get to but a needle nose pliers helped out. Breaker works great. If another Zinsco goes down, I will replace with one of these.

Just the same as what I could have bought at Home Depot, Lowes, OSH, or the local Ace Hardware store, but at a far better price! This was for an old house I was flipping, but to which I was adding modern 20-Amp circuits in the kitchen, bathrooms, and for the pool. So, every penny saved is another penny of profit! Amazon's marketplace is so fantastic in getting me the best deal, and only rarely do I stray to ebay, half.com, or others!

If you want a top of the line circuit breaker then this is the one you want. They enjoy a very well deserved reputation of being durable. This may very well be the case since this breaker was purchased to replace a faulty breaker that was installed in the mid eighties. Our area that is well know for power outages and surges since most of our power lines are routed through lots of woods and trees lines along country roads.
