Bought to connect a standby generator (Honda EU3000i) to a transfer switch. Though still stiff, I found it to be more flexible in cold weather (Maine) than other cords. Easily handles simultaneous operation of my heating system, refrigerator, several LED lights and a large screen TV (about 16 amps total when everything is running). Note that the plug used on this cord will NOT fit into a standard 15 amp receptacle (NEMA 5-15R). It must be used with a 20 amp rated receptacle (NEMA 5-20R or equivalent). Not a problem with the Honda, but check the receptacle on your generator or other source before buying this cord.

Exactly what I needed at an excellent price. None of the local sources had a 20 amp extension cord with the proper T-blade plug. All had an option to order for delivery at least a week out. I needed one to plug my infrared sauna, and I wanted to use my sauna ASAP. This extension is just as thick as the sauna's cord. Not even a hint of getting warm after 2 hours of use, so I am confident it contains the appropriately sized conductors it needs.

Long enough so that I hear generator noise coming from outside less when California shuts down electricity because there's not enough of it or because CA gov. dorks allow PG&E to shut power down on a windy day to prevent trees from falling on power lines (what a stupidity- why don't other states have this problem???). I got 20 amps for the fridge. I connect lamp, laptop charger and WiFi boxes into it. I say you can still get away with using a 15 amp thinner power cable for that as compressor startup which is indeed like 16 amp only takes 5 seconds at most and that's not enough to overheat a 15 amp wire (unless you got some mega huge fridge with mega generator). I couldn't find exact wattage at fridge start up for my Kenmore refrigerator (not listed anywhere in documentation - but the wall outlet is just 15 amps too. Better be safe than sorry with 20amp cable- only downside it's dark and hard to see but heck- I got a loud generator to remind everyone that the damn cable is where you step :). Did I mention California idiots also shut power down because there's not enough electricity for everyone at times??? Yep, that's California.

I purchased the cord to add a dedicated 20 amp inlet on my motorhome from the power pedestal.

The lighted female end of the cord is for a NEMA 20 amp 125 volt male waterproof inlet.....NOT a 20 amp 240 volt configuration.

Amazon sells the 20amp 125 volt Leviton weatherproof male inlet plug.

Also, buy the 15 amp adapter for the cord for those times where only a straight blade receptacle is available.

The cable is thick and durable. Seems to be made well and does what it suppose to do. I use it to charge me Nissan Leaf to a wall outlet and it does not get hot like the other cables as it amp rating is high.

I used this cord to make two extension cords one of them being an 8', GFI four outlet box for my table-saw, chop-saw, and drill press. The rest of the cord is for when I end up bringing my heavy tools onto a job site. I am very happy with the quality of the Conntek NEMA 5-20 cord. It is easy to roll up or to unroll and have it lay flat as it is very flexible. I will buy again and would recommend to any tradesmen who wants a 15 or 20 amp extension.
Of course remember you will have to change out the male end of the cord if you are plugging it into regular house sockets.

Easily trips GFDI

I bought 2. These cords have a light in the plug. Any small movement causes the GFDI to trip.

I have 6 new outlets, I can trip any of them with either cord, with no devices connected, just by jiggling them.

I thought it was my outlets until an electrician proved me wrong.

I do not trust these and would not buy them again.

Good solid cord that's malleable in low temperature, I use it with an L14-30P generator cable Y/T splitter, handles the full 20 AMPS on 120 without getting warm. The insulator is excellent and thick. I also like the black colour, keeps the dirt hidden. Yellow cords are great for visibility but they're often much stuffer in cold weather.

This is a really nice extension cord for anyone with a 20 amp receptacle that needs to use an extension. Please ignore reviewers that have no clue what they're talking about when they buy a 20 amp extension cord and can't figure out why it can't be plugged into a 15 amp receptacle. Overall, it's stays somewhat mailable at way-too-cold Canadian temperatures. I was able to run several devices totaling 2200 watts through this without any hiccups or the cord heating up at all. I'm very happy with the durability and wouldn't hesitate to buy more for other uses.
