Conquer Anything: A Green Beret's Guide to Building Your A-Team Hardcover – May 1, 2018
Purchase options and add-ons
War has a way of shooting holes in your best-laid plans. Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Stube (Ret.) suffered life-changing wounds during the battle of Operation Medusa in Afghanistan in 2006, but using the Green Beret methods he learned in the Special Forces, Stube knew he could conquer anything.
Service in the elite A-Team teaches you to come up with smart, well-researched, and flexible battle plans for completing the mission—every mission. Even when that mission is to spend an arduous year in a hospital recovering from being blown up, badly burned, and shot multiple times. Greg shares the leadership principles and values he learned as a member of an A-Team and teaches us how to apply Special Forces strategies to our personal and business lives.
Conquer Anything is a Special Forces book, but even more than that it is a leadership book designed to help each of us achieve the highest goals possible in our professional and private lives.
“The greatest leaders I know lead by example. They are role models who adhere to standards they set for others and never ask more of them than they demand of themselves. Great leaders don’t just “manage” or “motivate.” They inspire courage, tenacity, perseverance, resilience, and commitment in all who work with them. Greg Stube is such a leader—and an American Hero.
In Conquer Anything Greg draws on a lifetime of “lessons learned” as a highly decorated U.S. Army Special Forces medic in this lucid, straightforward resource for parents, teachers, students, athletes, employers, supervisors, and soldiers. If “success” is in your vocabulary, Conquer Anything is a must read.”—Oliver L. North, Lt Col USMC [Ret.], Host of War Stories on FOX News

- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2018Conquer Anything: A Green Beret's Guide to Building Your A-Team After hearing an interview with Greg Stube, I knew I had to read this book. Always striving to become the best follower, or servant leader, and hoping to lead my own team, I found "Conquer Anything" to be very insightful and enlightening. I found my faults laid bare in the pages of this book. It hits home, but then builds you back up, with a clearly defined structure for building a winning team and attaining the objective, achieving success.
I appreciate Greg's candor and honest self-assessment throughout the book. None of us is perfect. We all have our failings.
I hope to see Greg take the info laid out in the book and build a mobile app and other tools for folks to use as they build their team, define missions, make plans, execute the plans, and review effectiveness with after-action postmortems. For example, prebuilt forms to use while interviewing or assessing potential team members and current team members, tools to help define missions, etc.
Great book!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 1, 2018I had high expectations of this book knowing a little about greg Stube’s life story after a little research when I saw him on TV. His service within the special forces and inspiring recovery from combat injuries really gave him an unbelievable viewpoint of life and taking control of things after such a life changing event. Greg has that writing skill that reminds me of wise words my grandad use to tell me as a kid and similar wisdom. The book is an epic read filled with fun stories, valuable lessons, advice and methods to help learn lessons and skills that have been earned in blood by the greatest men this country has to offer. I have enjoyed reading this book and I strongly believe everyone can take something from this that will help you change yourself and your life even if you are a CEO of a company or a junior officer in the military

- Reviewed in the United States on March 1, 2019Mr. Stube's has an ability to speak to complex concepts in layman's terms. Which makes it a simple and profound read all at once. His book is filled with stories from his time in the field weaved into concepts that make great leaders, strong teams, and effective projects. It moves quickly enough to not be dull but slow enough to enjoy the stories and to follow the concepts well.
I wish, some of the concepts revealed in this book were adopted more in the business community. Chapter 8 and more specifically "The Battlefield Challenge" is one of my favorite portions of the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2020I will give a 5 star on the book because I know it will be a great read. I can only give a 1 Star on shipping because the Book was damaged during shipping which was upsetting but the damage does not affect me from being able to read the book. I was fortunate enough to hear Greg speak at a conference and can’t wait to read this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 2, 2018In the summer of 2006 I was flying over Afghanistan in an AH-64A Apache providing close air support for U.S. and Coalition forces. At that same time and in that same area Greg Stube was taking the fight to the Taliban and his life was changed. We didn’t know one another then. I was introduced to Greg almost 2 years ago now through a mutual friend. He is a humble warrior. He is still fighting for what he believes in. This book is a bit of his personal history filled with his life lessons. It is also a book on team building, on leadership, on ownership, and finding fruit in failure. This book is refreshingly candid. It provides you with a plan of action to get you and your team to your “there” and to thrive. If you are a fan of Jocko’s Extreme Ownership, Paul Howe’s Leadership and Training for the Fight, and Kyle Lamb’s Leadership from the Shadows you’ll find this book has its place next to them on your bookshelf.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2018Greg Stube’s unique viewpoints about leadership and life, in general, are empowering for all. He has a distinctive style of communicating and teaching how to apply successful and really timeless A-Team lessons regarding team building and expectation setting that will resonate with every walk of life. Whether you’re a top executive or the all-important expert in your field contributing to the mission of your organization, this book if for you. And let’s not forget, there’s something for everyone. For me, the last chapter taught me a few lessons about how personal growth is a journey that spans the entire “dash” of our lives, not just through what you may believe was your finest hour somewhere in your past. As Stube says, “A win is a temporary outcome.” He also adds, “…winning is not an endpoint…” These two points reminded me that first, it’s my duty to strive for that next goal, and second, I have it in me to continue to Conquer Anything.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2022For those that have had a chance to listen to Greg live, this is a great follow up. I have read this book twice and it still is one you dont want to put down.
