Magnetic Resistance Cycling Trainer Information
Magnetic trainers (also called mag trainers) use adjustable magnetic resistance to create drag against your bike's rear wheel. The flywheel has rotating magnets that create a set amount of resistance as they’re engaged. To increase or decrease the amount of resistance you must shift the gears of your bike, or dismount your bike and adjust on the trainer with a resistance knob.
Know that using a trainer like the Conquer Indoor Bike Trainer Portable Exercise Bicycle Magnetic Stand inside means that you "lose" the environmental resistance factors like wind, inclines and other road conditions. Also, keep in mind there is noise associated with riding your bike indoors on a cycling trainer! Sound acts differently off walls/ceilings than it does outside on the road. Some ways to combat this are to use an exercise/trainer mat or replace the bike's rear tire with a slick racing tire.

The portable stand is very sturdy and being wider than some other stands helps one in the balance aspect. My tires are regular commuter bike tires so I expected some noise but that's to be expected and manageable. The front riser stand is nice to have to help keep the bike level and the front wheel straighter when pedaling.
All in all, I give it a 5 star rating. I am fully satisfied with the product and would purchase it again. Having a 61 year old body with an 18 year old mind, LOL and this helps to keep me in good shape whether it's raining or not. Easy to fold up when not in use so you can ride on nice days or easy to unfold, put the bike on, adjust the tension and haul butt without going anywhere but getting the exercise and help maintain a healthy lifestyle. Plus the fact it's portable so if you go on vacation you can put in in the vehicle and take it with you. A winner all the way around.
In terms of it's function, it works perfectly. I tried it initially without any resistance and it was as smooth as butter. Once I engaged the resistance though... there was an insane amount of noise. Immediately, I knew it was due to the tires I have on my mountain bike. It's no different than a jeep rolling at highway speeds with mud tires; it's going to be noisy.
BUT it works flawlessly.
Next step? Buy some road tires with quiet tread and see how they fair in terms of noise generation.
I really like that it comes with a stand and axle. Though my bike had a quick release lever, the shape of the lever would not have fit in this trainer. I most wish there were a way to get the exact same pressure on the rear tire every time (since I release it after use so as to not damage the tire or tube). I could count turns on the handle as I tighten it, but I'd love something more specific than that. Maybe that'll have to wait for a future upgrade to a higher end unit. for now, this one is good.
It folds down really small (convenient for storage and moving). Super-easy set-up. Using the gears on my bike, I can get a good workout in. When riding outside, you can stop pedaling and rest while the bike coasts. With this, once your feet stop moving, so does the wheel, forcing you to work harder in that way than while outside. Don't get me wrong, riding outside is preferable in many ways because it requires balance and you can vary terrain, unlike with the trainer. However, for a long winter, this comes in handy. I use it early in the morning with a mostly smooth tire on the back and haven't gotten any complaints yet from the neighbors about the noise. A slick tire would be better though.
I like to listen to audiobooks, podcasts, music, news, and General Conference talks on my phone using this on the handlebar: Oenbopo Motorcycle Bicycle MTB Bike Handlebar Mount Holder Universal For Cell Phone GPS, iPhone SE Iphone6 6S 6plus 5s 5c Samsung Galaxy Note5 4 3 S7 S6 S5 S4 HTC LG Phones
Hopefully that's helpful.
