~Dr. Christine Elizabeth Kiesinger
The Conscious Entrepreneur is a great resource for creative and conscious entrepreneurs that would like to find practices that can apply specifically to business. I also would recommend this book for entrepreneurs that are ready to do business differently--whether that may be having more time for family and other pursuits, having a business in which people come before money or having a greater sense of ease in operating their business.
I love the personal stories Laura Cannon shares. She has tremendous knowledge about entrepreneurship and spiritual wisdom. She brings them together in a unique and accessible style.
I am always interested in connecting these seemingly disparate parts of myself. I have read many great business books in my life and a lot of great spiritual books but I have not read many that tied the two together in a harmonious way.
So my expectations were not very high, but I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The author clearly lives her life according to the principles in the book because she was able to very clearly explain how to weave a spiritual approach into your business life in a way that would not sacrifice business success.
There were a lot of great stories in the book that really backed up the points the author was making. It was very easy to read and the best part was that the book inspired me to take action in many ways. The chapter on Boldness was my favorite- it helped me realize that to act boldly in the pursuit of what I want to create IS honoring my spirituality. I have always struggled with that, feeling guilty for pursing what I want. This book left me feeling like it was my duty to act boldly for what I want in life, trusting that my intentions are good.
There are also a lot of exercises. This is not really my favorite part of any book but I did do a couple of the exercise and they were quite good. If you like that sort of thing, you will have plenty of options in this book for exercises.
