About the Author
Mark Painter is a Mercer County, Pennsylvania, historian and genealogist researching and writing about many Western Pennsylvania historical topics. A former U.S. Marine and National Guardsman, he was drawn to document the region's military contributions to the often overlooked War of 1812. Mark also researched and compiled information on the War of 1812 Battle of Stoney Creek, Mercer County Revolutionary War veterans, and Mercer County’s U.S. Colored Troops. His work includes publishing abstracts on Mercer County Naturalizations and the Shenango Valley Cemetery, and Proof of Settlement Certificates of Western Pennsylvania. He is currently researching the Mercer County Abolition movement.
