John is the author of the seminal book on selling, Consultative Selling Skills which details the core of all high-value exchanges: building relationships. He has also developed, built and sold a global adult training company, and consults to world-class organizations such as Volvo, the Economist Group and Shipley Associates. John works with clients to develop, grow and sustain adaptive and agile sales functions and leadership. His career is characterized by entrepreneurial zeal, innovation and strong partnerships with clients.

John has published more than 80 articles on sales and leadership. His academic research includes testing the effectiveness of interpersonal skill development, a model that has become the framework for corporate libraries on sales leadership.

Under John’s leadership, the multi million-dollar sales training company he founded designed, tested and delivered sales leadership, sales coaching, sales management and training courses for corporate clients worldwide. He recruited and trained a team of world-class instructional designers, sales trainers, consultants and account executives. His methods and field-tested research enable companies to develop the interpersonal skills of salespeople, executives, professionals and managers in high-impact and interactive simulation courses.

A native of Australia, John holds dual citizenship and has lived and worked in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia. His clients have included the Gannett Company, Equifax Europe, Al Futtain Industries, Volvo, Prudential and the State of Victoria. He also opened and managed his training company’s European office in Brussels to service existing and new clients.

John holds a doctoral degree in education from the University of Rochester, where he co-taught Consulting Skills. He also taught organizational development at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he is co-leading an initiative to develop a graduate-level Institute of Professional Selling.
