Let us start out with a HUGE pet peeve of mine first. I hated that her nickname was O. I mean, come on! At first I was like "The Big O" *wink wink* and then thought "O as in Oprah?!" Didn't love it that much and I hate to admit it but I did love the nickname Olly. Its as cute as a bug and she's meant to be beautiful so why not call her that instead of O? Or rather not give her a nickname at all? Though, Olivia would have sounded like that Pig cartoon on Nick Jr... I blame the name.
Seth. Okay, now that I think about it. Maybe I just don't like either of these characters names. There is nothing wrong with either just not what I'd prefer to refer as a BF or a GF to. Personal tastes and all. His isn't anywhere nearly as bad as hers though. I stomached it. (Go me!) The only down fall I saw in him was that he seemed too cocky at times. I like a bad boy just as much as the next but he comes off too strong. And it could also do with his character/plot/characteristics. Other than that, he's a pretty damn good choice in BB's. Loved the Epi and how we FINALLY got to hear something told from his POV. He definitely doesn't disappoint.
Back to Oliva, I like her. She's corky, fun, a bit of a hermit but super down to earth. She grew on me throughout the story. Though she did seem to default into sort of the helplessness heroine as the story progressed. She started off super strong and kick a** but stumbled and fell down the rest of the way. I kept on thinking that she was going to take this huge leap of faith and restore her glory but it didn't happen.... yet. Maybe in the next book? I've yet to look into that one and see if it is even with the same characters or what?
Overall, its a good read. I did find myself highlighting more than my usual few quotes. There was so much that I did love within these characters. Then to find out that the Author is so young at the back of the book, was mind blowing. Madi seems very mature for her age and it shows through in some of her writings throughout this entire book. I was pleasantly surprised and will be continuing with the next book, even if it is from different characters. Super excited to find out what may lay ahead next. Buy it, hate it, love it but review it. Would recommend, 18+.
Can be a standalone though there are other books in this series about this couple
Told only from Olivia's POV until the epilogue.
Minor editing errors. Nothing too too major.
I liked this book. With such strong reviews I thought it was going to blow my mind but it didn't. Maybe my expectations were too high. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it. The characters were good. I loved their banter back and forth and even found myself crying at one point In the book but the author didn't do enough to draw me into the larger series about this couple. The last line of the book is the only thing that even eludes that there might ( I said might) be a second book and even then you aren't really sure unless you have already seen it on amazon.
If you like fighter romances you will enjoy this book but if you are looking for a story you have never read before that will draw you in for multiple more books about the same couple I don't think this is the book for you.
I don't do spoilers, if the synopsis and all the wonderful reviews don't have you jumping to one click it, than this book probably isn't for you. But you have no clue what your missing!!
Olivia, a feisty girl who's finally dumped her worthless, cheating boyfriend for good. She's a good girl, never one to step too far out of her comfort zone, unlike her best friend who drags her out to clubs.
Seth, sex on a stick. Yep, he's a no strings kinda guy. Hoping to move up in ranks as a MMA fighter he doesn't have time for anything but training, his relationships last as long as it takes for him to get off.
Until he locks eyes with the gym owners daughter. For some reason she makes him feel, and he doesn't want too.
Seth want's to be around Olivia but not sleep with her, he can't understand why he seems to care about her. Olivia wants sex. She doesn't care if it's one time or not, she wants Seth.
How does it end? You'll have to read to find out. I love both Seth & Olivia, the whole opposites attract thing works for them and the back an forth in this story keeps you glued to it until the last page.
I've been completely consumed by him and I didn't even know it."
I am beginning to enjoy more of the MMA genre. My first MMA book was the Remy trilogy which I have to say was the best overall. Then I just reading Against the Ropes and was looking for something else to read and came across Skyla Madi's Consumed series. I am so glad I did because I will put it up there with my first choice.
I fell in love with Seth with his bad boy attitude charms but you can tell when he first laid eyes on Olivia that he was a goner even though he warned her several times he doesn't do relationships.
Olivia was a straight laced person who never got in trouble or lived on the edge and the only person she had been with was her lying, cheating boyfriend of 6 years Blade. Blade finally drawn the last line and Olivia broke up with him.
I loved to watch how Seth and Olivia's trust and friendship grew to where it became the real thing. I enjoyed a lot of side characters as well and cannot wait for the continuation in "Too Consumed" which is already out today!
