Good size and quality glass, lids not so much

I had been looking for larger glass food storage, and these seemed to be perfect with the great reviews overall. But even after just one use, in unclasping the lid from the container, the flexible part of the clasps began to crack. I decided to hang on to them anyway (i really needed the large size containers) and just tried to be more careful, even though i am a very careful person in general and there's no way the clasps should be so fragile as to crack on the first use. 8 months later the clasps are still attached but some are pretty cracked despite how carefully we open and close the lids. Another problem was the airtight sealing rubbery blue part- it does the job well, but it does get moldy if not removed to wash. Removing it isn't super hard, but the material is apparently very very thin and easy to puncture, which is a whole problem because you don't want mold and water and food muck getting inside that hollow rubbery tube of course. And the lids are useless without that fragile component. My husband tried to remove one with a rounded (in no way sharp, but very thin, in order to carefully slip between the blue and the lid) metal wire, more thin than a paper clip, from the other end of a straw cleaner brush (which we normally use on our similar but different brand glass containers w/similar lid system, with no issues) and instead the ring went right through the blue plastic! We've been able to work around it but i'm worried these new containers won't last me as many years as i'd hoped, which is a shame as the containers themselves are fine, it's just the lids.
