Coming from the public relations side of the marketing brain, I can tell you if you take this book and add it to your digital marketing and PR arsenal - your brand will soar with positive exposure encompassing owned, earned and paid media. As one of the contributors, I am honored to associate my name with this book; it is a must read to fully understand today's moving parts that make up content marketing and also how important it is to be using SEO best practices along the way. (think white hat)
Whether we are talking about blogging, your brand's online newsroom, social messaging, video, images or the art of building a social community that is meaningful to your business, this book should be filled with tons of sticky notes and highlights. Bruce and Murray show you how to do it. Or if you don;t want to be the one to do it, hand this book to the agency or person in charge of your public relations and marketing to be sure they are implementing TODAY's best practices versus out dated methods that might cause more harm than good.

I found this book to be very informative and well written, and just okay. Many of the resources are outdated. Trying to go to some of the links and use some of the "tools" proved futile as many of the links to resources no longer worked and many of the spreadsheet downloads simply did not work. Overall this is a decent overview book, but it needs to be updated. It's a great overview of content marketing, but some of the ways they want you to go about gathering data seems very archaic and pointless. As a matter of fact a software like BuzzSumo does wonders and provides a lot of data for content marketers for a low monthly price. Much easier than downloading the buggy non working spreadsheets the author raves about. Also consider investing in an SEO platform like MOZ. between MOZ and BuzzSumo, you won't need have of the resources in this book.

I work in Marketing and I write a personal blog. Marketing has changed a lot in the last couple of years and this book is written for the new generation of marketers. Marketing is all about the content now. People are so busy and overwhelmed with information that they won't read your article or watch your video unless it's informative but at the same time short and with a personal touch.

This book clearly explains what content marketing is and how to start incorporating it into your marketing strategy. I've also learned how to use SEO to make my blog posts more visible and how to better engage with our clients via the social media channels. The book teaches you what media works better and how to include it in your marketing strategy. I really liked it!
