Unlike many reviewers here, I had never heard of Ryan Hanley prior to this book being published on Amazon. As a matter of fact, I had no intentions of reading a book on content marketing because I find myself as being pretty advanced in online marketing and thought this would just be a rehash of popular online information. However, some of my favorites in the industry were emphatically recommending this book – which is something most of them rarely do. So, after enough nudges, I pulled the trigger and picked it up.
First off, it became very evident that Ryan is not a ‘self-proclaimed guru’ on the subject like many try to claim but is in fact, incredibly advanced in the subject mater. Picking apart such a monumental subject, he bore into the content marketing process and ethos with precision.
After finishing the book, I will have to say it was worth every penny and ever second it took to read it (time being something I value most). I am super happy I bought a soft copy of the book because my highlighter quickly became my bookmark for it and my pages are pretty yellow and pink.
The good news for many potential readers is that it was written in a way that all levels could benefit from it. Those new to the online marketing world would benefit from it in a major way and I wish this was around when I started. For the advanced? Well, like I started this review, I think of myself as advanced but seriously feel as though I can take my content marketing to the next level. There was definitely a lot of “ah ha” moments and areas I really need to think about in the future.
After reading this book and digesting his information, I am now a big fan of Ryan’s Content Warfare podcast and frequently read his stuff on the subject. I look forward to more ‘content’ from him in the future.

If you're struggling to find your audience and motivate them to action, this is the book for you! Written by a guy who made a success of content marketing in a very unsexy business (insurance), the concepts and takeaways can work for any business. I bought the book but have been listening to the audio version on Ryan's podcast and Chapter six spoke to me. Love the ideas about tapping into people's desire for self expression. Also, bravo for putting your foot down on all this talk about Millennials and what they do and don't do. They're humans (although we Gen-Xers might not always understand them) and they want what we all want - connection, recognition, and understanding. Great book. Get it. ~ Alisa

This opportunity often gets lost in technology tools and platforms. It's not the medium, it's the message.

I have been a long-time reader of Ryan's blog and fan of his content. This book is way more than just content marketing ideas (although there are many and they work). It digs deeper. It teaches you how great content is not about tricks and tactics, but about how content allows you to share the "soul" of your business. Small businesses have an opportunity to tell their story to reach prospects on a deeper, more personal level. He uses real stories and real experiences give you practical ways to gain attention for your business.

Being in the insurance industry myself, I've been drinking up information lately on content marketing. Ryan's book is amazingly helpful. It hits home with the "why" of content marketing, but gets an A+ for "How to do" content marketing.
When I read non-fiction books, I always read a physical book and highlight what stands out to me with a yellow highlighter. I have a lot of yellow on these pages. It's simply that good.
PS: I've never met Ryan personally but I've consumed his content via text, audio, and video. He lives what he teaches.
Get this book.

If you are a business owner or marketer who wants to learn more about shifting to content marketing for your business or even someone who has been involved in (online) content marketing, you’ll find tremendous value in this as a read-through and to keep on the shelf for referencing.
For those not yet involved in digital content marketing efforts, this will serve as an excellent introduction and foundation of information as well as provide guidance on how to start and what to do.
More veteran “Content Warriors” will find themselves re-focused, re-energized, and armed with more ammo to get buy-in when necessary.
It took me a week (about 4 real “sittings”) to get through this, and the reason I had such a hard time was I had to keep stopping to take notes or was actually so inspired that I had to get up and take action on something.
Do yourself a favor and read this book. Then take action on its wisdom.

A few years back, I finally figured out Google Plus courtesy Ryan's videos so when I decided to read Content Warfare, I had certain expectations and I am pleased to say that this book is a collector's item, especially for a person whose head has started to hurt from content marketing and all sorts or gobbledygook. The book is written in a simple language that keeps the reader's attention till the end and is filled with nuggets of information which compel one to return and read again. My favorite section was the Basic SEO. When Ryan tells the reader to Educate, Entertain and Inspire, he leads by example. Off to find my True Fans!

This is a "must read" for anyone interested in content marketing! I first found Ryan's podcast, "Content Warfare" and was very impressed with the great information and enthusiasm Ryan brought to it. These qualities are present throughout this book. It provides step-by-step guide for getting into content marketing without any sugar coating or get rich quick hype. It should become a standard reference for all who want to enter into this topic, whether it is somebody seeking a change in their career or businesses seeking to get their message out to a larger audience.
