Many plungers have flaps that allow their plunger to be used both on toilets as well as other drains. They work okay & most of the time they are enough, but not always. I've used this brand of plunger for years. This particular plunger only works on toilets, but they really pack a punch. Accordion style toilet plungers only allow a push downward & often that is enough, but these will build up a bit of suction on the downward thrust & not only provide that downward push but then with a strong upward pull, will suction up & loosen the clog. Where other plungers, even with dozens of thrusts still leave a toilet clogged, these will usually clear the problem away with just a very few pushes. This style of plunger, I highly recommend.

A couple of the new low-flush toilets have trapezoidal openings at the bottom of the toilet instead of the round shaped which most toilets have. I have two Kohler Cimarron toilets which occasionally get plugged. Because of their opening design which is trapezoidal instead of round regular toilet plungers simply will not fit, I wasted money on several including the one recommended by Kohler. I bought a twisting auger to clear it but the extreme angle of the throat defeated that. I was looking at a minimum $70 plumber's bill to clear it. On the Toto toilet on Amazon's page someone mentioned this plunger. I bought it and it works. Here's why.

The soft rubber folds over and seals the opening. In addition it not only provides down push pressure but the seal is so secure that it also actually creates a vacuum that pulls the plug in the opposite direction to further loosen the plug. I am very impressed that this simple design was so effective. I highly recommend this one of a kind plunger for any toilet. But for those toilets with the strange opening differing from round this plunger is essential since no other plunger works for them.

I was drawn to this plunger because another reviewer mentioned success unclogging a Kohler Cimarron, my so-called hard-to-clog toilet. I received this plunger the day of yet another clog- yes, it's human waste with almost no paper, not kids' toys. Kohler doesn't seem to have the flush action designed exactly right. This plunger does require a lot of downforce strength, but it conforms nicely to the elongated outlet in the bowl. A few strokes and it was cleared. I'd tried the conventional, combination, and plastic accordion plungers and none were able to seal the outlet, thus they were ineffective. I highly recommend this one, even though the rubber does stink (I keep mine in the garage).

The title says it all, but Amazon wants more words.

We have two Totos, and they will clog with a firm download. This, of course, depends on the individual's diet, medications, and water intake. Now that winter is near, we do not drink as much water, so our stools are firmer, and the Totos clog on occasion.

We have tried every other plunger we could, and this one does the job right away. I even used a belt sander to modify a conventional type plunger to make it more likely to fit the trapezoid bottom of the Totos. No dice.

Ended up buying one of these for each Toto, and they do the job.

A plunger is a hard thing to love, but that is what Amazon says 5 stars means.

My Totos would be in the trash heap if I had not been able to find these plungers on Amazon. The dozen+ hardware stores I checked did not have it.

I think this maybe the last one I ever buy. This thing is made to last. I don't even have to push hard or all the way down. I didn't want to pay this much, but this is the type I like. My old one is maybe 25 to 30 years old. This one is made so much better I am very very happy I paid the money.

This is a very good style plunger. Bought it to replace an old one just like it that I had for over 10 years. The rubber is a little firm at first, so you have to give it a good hard push when plunging, but it will break in and become easier. It does work good unlike those cheesy ones you buy at the big hardware stores. I search my local Lowes and Home Depot and all they had were the flimsy ones that don't really work.

I ordered this based upon a recommendation from a customer who said that this worked really well on their Toto toilets. Unfortunately they must have a different model of Toto toilet than I do because this plunger would not work at all on mine (Toto Ultramax II, Sanaglosss, Elongated). This plunger has very stiff rubber (except at the top, where the handle screws into the rubber), and a long, round end that does not fit the shape of the bottom of my Toto's toilet bowl. As a result, every time I tried to use it the plunger slipped out of place and the rubber bent near where the handle screws in. After ten minutes or so of trying I gave up and tried two old plungers. One of them did not seal, sending water shooting back up, but the oldest, simplest one worked after only a few tries. As the Toto-owning customer's review correctly suggests, not all toilets have the same shaped bowls, so some plungers will not work in some toilets. Apparently Totos are not all the same shape either. Fortunately Amazon addressed this issue to my complete satisfaction.
