These tires did not disappoint on my 700 mile trip. They held up, were puncture resistant, and handled well on all types of surfaces from gravel to sand. I was completely impressed with their cornering and performance. These tire are going to be replaced with another set of the same when they need it, but I don't see that for a long time. Buy these tire for a great all around ride.
Update 11/4/17. I have put about 600 miles on this tire, and I do like the way it rides overall. As one reviewer said, it can be a little squirrelly. I run it with 60lbs of air, and it’s a few mm thinner than I am accustomed to. Overall a good tire for the price.
I did pump them up higher, and yes, it does help! They are smooth riding and fast for the tread they have. Even at higher pressure, they roll across grass and gravel quite well.
I have a 20 year old Fuji Touring Series and this is a much better tire than the original Avocets. These roll mostly as fast as the Continental 25s I had on it for a while. However, they could not go over a lot of the terrain these tour rides can. These tires are a perfect match for the bike. Fast, tough, comfortable. :-)
