From the Author
There are five important messages in Contingency.
I took my characters and dropped them in, perhaps, the most difficult situation a couple could face - adultery - and even in that dark circumstance, hope is there.
Forgiveness is possible.
We sometimes get the wrong idea that to forgive is to ignore the offense or minimize the pain caused. Forgiveness is letting go of our right to retribution. From a Christian perspective, it means, putting the situation in the hands of a holy God and trusting His justice. That is far from easy, and the story doesn't sugarcoat the challenges at all.
Marriage takes diligence.
By all indications, Chuck and Bobbi had a good marriage. There were no glaring issues, but over time, emotional drift entered the relationship. They each had vulnerabilities though, and they never considered how those factored into their marriage.
God calls us to go way beyond our comfort zone.
I write from a Christian perspective, so I see the things that come into our lives as refining opportunities, chances to see if we really believe what we hear on Sunday mornings that we claim to believe and live by. Even if that's not how others approach life, all of us can agree that we are often called to stretch, to step out or even experience some growing pains by the things life throws at us.
Answers are out there.
Again I believe the answers are rooted in Biblical truth, and others are free to disagree. The solutions don't drop out of the sky wrapped in a nice bow, though. It takes some work, some digging, and usually some wise counseling from others but they can be found.
The story doesn't end with Contingency, though. In real life, there are often long-term consequences and so Chuck and Bobbi have to deal with fallout from Chuck's infidelity. Indemnity, picks up six years later when the other woman shows up in town again with a little boy who is the spitting image of Chuck. Then Precedent jumps another twelve years ahead and looks at the impact on this little boy, now a college student and the daughter born to Chuck and Bobbi after they reconciled. Finally, the series wraps up in Sanction. Through the ups and downs, though there is a strong thread of forgiveness and redemption.

The story, itself, and the characters are very well developed. The characters are so real that you find yourself thinking of them as friends. They are flawed, they struggle, they have real doubts and fears and emotions, but the author is able to bring them through a seemingly unsurmountable crisis in a way that is believable and inspiring. The characters never seem preachy or too good to be real. The counsel that the couple receives is wise and well-grounded.
When I finished, I could not wait for the next book, Indemnity, to come out on Kindle so that I could read more about my friends, the Molinskys. I was also looking forward to reading more of her very practical application of scripture.
This series is the best Christian fiction I have ever read!!
