CIS will not work good on HP 6500 because the ink cartridges is moving ...

It doesn't work properly. CIS will not work good on HP 6500 because the ink cartridges is moving left and right and the plastic line connected to the ink cartridges will also move left to right which you cannot position the holder properly. I tried to position in the middle in the right and on the left but it is hitting the body of the printer when it is at the end of the travel in the right and also on the left. So my advice to the customer who has HP 6500
don't buy CIS

Outlived two printers

Once set up, which can be fiddly, it reliably feeds ink for months at a time. The one problem is that the HP cartridge uses a sponge, which will eventually stiffen and fail. Then you have to replace the cartridges and reinsert the tubes, which is by far the worst part. Only had issues with bubbles in a line once; generally a small bubble can be ignored and will work it's way out.

On balance, only worth the effort if you use a significant amount of ink; more likely your printer will die before this pays for itself, and you probably won't buy a compatible replacement printer.

Middle of the road product

Initial installation was fairly straight forward. I noticed from start that the cartidges were stock HP920's and did not have Auto Reset Chips (ARCs) on them; which was the primary reason I purchased this CIS kit. I ended up disabling the ink notification on the printer so it would stop complaining about the ink levels.

Also after serveral print runs I wasn't able to get the air out of the line which caused streaking on the color and the black wouldn't print at all. In order to get the air out of the lines I purchased a syringe style food injecter to use as a pump. By placing the cartridges nozzle up in a bowl with paper towels, and gently pushing air into the tank to force ink through the line; I was able to remove the air from the lines - but it was a bit messy.

In short, if you're technically inclinded with a pinch of MacGyver you should be fine. Otherwise you may want to have a techie friend do it for you.

Okay Item, Non-Existant Customer Support

I purchased this item and it worked just fine for awhile. When it suddenly stopped working there was no useful help from the seller to get it going again. Their only suggestion was that I had initially set it up wrong, which is ludicrous since it worked fine for several months after I first installed it, and nothing was changed in the setup that might explain why it stopped working. I'm still waiting for an answer two weeks on. This system isn't economical compared to cartridges if the whole thing has to be scrapped and replaced every few months.

UPDATE: Just loaded the replacement system on my printer. The black is blocked on this one too. I elavated ink hopper to encourage it to flow into the empty black supply tube and now my printer says "ink system failure" in my HP6500 wireless printer. I might have to throw the ink system and the printer away. What a POS.
Don't purchase this product or you will lose your ink money and have to buy a new printer too!

I emailed the company that the black ink was blocked with air and would not flow. They asked me to return it with $[...] cashiers check. I just received a new unit. I have to give them credit for supporting their product. I have a good feeling about this unit. I don't think that I will get two bad ones in a row.
I will install it this weekend and give another update. I sure hope that it works. I am tired of getting ripped off by HP.

emailed the company for support thisafternoon. The black will not flow, but other colors are puddling inside the printer. I am going to have to remove it before I go to bed or ????????
First impressions are that this is a total ripoff. Unless the company helps me with this issue I will have spent 131 bucks for a horrible day of printer terror.

Wow! That was frustrating. The directions are visual pics about one inch by one inch!
Bring a magnifying glass when you install these. They refer to the pictures/figures that are so little they must have been created by an 18 year old with 15-15 vision. Perhaps a robot with microvision.
Lets get real on these directions people. What are you trying to do? Save on ink?
I just installed it so I can't speak for the performance, except it did clean and it is printing so far. I am not sure about the external ink tanks level yet. Should it be higher or lower than the internal inkjet cartridges? Bad directions!!
I will upgrade this if my office isn't filled a puddle of ink and it really saves me some money.
HP is crazy on their ink prices. Even at Costco they gouge us consumers. I hope that this works so we can escape HP's ink pricing - predetory practices.

I purchased this item, and had nothing but problems. I followed the instructions exactly, but after -3 weeks, my colors stopped working. When I started the lines were full of color, but now there was air in the lines so no new colored in could get into the cartridges. I tried contacting the manufacturer to get help with it, but nothing they said helped.
