4.0 out of 5 stars Works great automated with leak detectors!
By DY on February 19, 2019
I was able to get this to work automatically with water sensors pretty easily. The key is to use the Tuya Smart Life app. Here's how to do it (set all this up before trying to attach it to your water valve):

1) App: Don't use the Jinvoo app for this product. Download the Tuya Smart Life app instead and use that to set it up.
2) Sensors: I can confirm it works with the Wasserstein ones (the Monoprice Stitch ones look the same and will most likely also work). Set them up with the Tuya Smart Life app (don't use the WStein app). I setup 1 in the kitchen and 1 in the laundry room. Should be pretty easy to add more down the road.
3) Automation: I initially tried to use IFTTT, but the Tuya Smart Life app already has automation features so it's easier. Just open the app. Tap Smart. Tap the + in the top right. Select Automation. Tap Add condition>Device. Select your sensor. Select Water sensor. Select Alarm. Do this for each sensor. Now add the action to close the valve: At the bottom you will see Control Smart Devices. Select this water valve. Select Switch. Select Off. Tap Save in the top Right. Give the action a name (like Leak Detected). Test it out!

The extra peace of mind you have now for less than $100 is amazing! The only minor gripe is that the alert you get from the Tuya Smart LIfe app is partially in Chinese. The important part "Leak detected in Laundry Room" is in English though. These instructions are for the Android version. I assume it would be similar for IOS. The app doesn't affect my rating for this product though.

Once you set this valve controller up in Tuya, you can also add it easily to Google Assistant.

The only drawback for the actual product is that it won't fit my valve as shown in the attached photo. Sadly I will have to return it and look for another solution.

3.0 out of 5 stars screws are 1/4" short to tight the device and need addional bracket to secure the whole body
By Mike on August 23, 2019
It is definitely not a 30 minutes installation unless you are familiar with similar installation.

(1) the screws are 1/4" short. My 3/4 shut off valve has bigger diamter that bracket almost can not secure.
Also, it need rubber padding to separate the copper and galvanized bracket. The tighting screws for handle also need washers to add extra stregth to the shut off.

(2) It need one additional bracket on the other side to secure the device. When this device is turning on, the whole device body shift a little bit and the handle is around 3 degree off to the complete shut off. However, the actual test ends up okay even the level is NOT comletely off ( 3 degree off). For a smaller size shut off valve, this device might be good.

(3) There is NO instruction on the package at all. I have to go back amazon order page and read instruction. Several pages of simple instructions will make work easier.

(4) You need to download the APP provided by manufacture , Also you need to configure that APP into google HOME app. So they can communicate. Without step by step printed instruction, it will take you a while to figure out.

(5) Overall, you can manage it and make it work. I am worried about the plastic that connected to the bracket might broke because it seems trying very hard to trun off and on. It is not a heavy duty enough from my observation.
