As far back as I can recall, I had two pairs of ankle high converse chuck taylors. One pair in white and the other in black. LIke other skater teens of the time, my shoes had a myriad of designs and anti establishment symbolism.
But every skater punk grows up into an old fart who can't bend over and tie their shoes as easily as they used to. Ever since my hip injury in the military, I have become addicted to slip on shoes.
These chucks were the answer to my dreams. I generally get them a half size too larger to give myself a little big of wiggle room, but otherwise the fit is exactly as expected and they are generally comfortable.
I couldn't give this a 5 star review because I do have two big points of discomfort with the shoes.
1. The soles are pretty thin and if I do to much hard impact walking in them, my feet are pretty sore/flat the next day.
2. The soles of the shoes are EXTREMELY SLIPPERY! I nearly slip on all wet surfaces or smooth metallic surfaces. I really like the easy and look, but these shoes have nearly made me fall on my butt a number of times. They really slip pretty quickly the moment they hit the right material.
I don't regret buying them, but they will need serious insoles and something to add more traction to the soles before I would really wear them around a lot.
