I especially like how the dishes were categorized, like breakfast dishes, desserts, soups etc. Most recipe books obviously have things this way, but I was unfortunate enough to buy one (a hardcopy for like $2/3…something, I can’t remember exactly), it was honestly a really big book but I will not mention the title here. Anyways it actually had a lot of recipes, 100+ which is why I bought it (it was mentioned in the title), but all of them were jumbled together and didn’t have any organized pattern. So I spend a lot of time going through the pages trying to find any special dishes for a meal. After that the arranged manner in this book is a relief and obviously handy when it comes to searching for the suitable recipe.
But, I do have a complain; there are no images at all, so if some images were included that would make the book more visually appealing. And another one is that there were only 3 dessert recipes??? So that took away one star from my rating for this book.
"This soup is low in carbs, cholesterol, and is heart healthy too. It is gluten free and full of fiber too. Broccoli helps reduce cholesterol and is a powerful antioxidant. The garlic in the dish is also an antioxidant. The dish is rich in sodium. It is also rich in the mineral potassium. You will be able to obtain the vitamins A and K through the dish."
Also, the author is not consistent with the flow of her thoughts, jumping from one topic to another and goes back again, making her writing a tad chaotic for my eyes to concentrate. And not to forget the nutritional value without any value present. If the book targets the readers who are weight-conscious, nominal value for each nutrient MUST be visible. Overall, this book needs an overhaul and a good editor/proofreader to ensure a satisfied reader in the end.
Starts out with the history of the crockpot and its features. Start out with breakfast meals and servings, ingredient list and directions. There are NO pictures and no nutritional information.
You may be able to substitute for your own dietary needs.
What is strange is half way through the recipes take on a new format and the nutritional information is included.
No silly descriptions or explanations and stuff, the book starts straightaway with the recipes. Though I do wish there could have been some images included, ‘coz I almost always decided on the dish from such books based on the image (something like a visual feast first………).
I'm a bit disappointed because there are only 3 dessert recipes here. For a book on crock pot recipes and since there are like more than at least 5 recipes for other meals, I really hoped there was more dessert ones included. Nevertheless, I still like these other recipes, and I've being successful in surprising my family with the meatballs of the recipes I got from here. :D
