Breakfast - Blueberry Coffee Cake (which I would make again, diet or no) and 2 links of Turkey Sausage
Lunch - Chicken with Wild Mushroom Sauce (contained cream :) ) with Egg Noodles; Carrot Sticks; and a Homemade Mocha Cookie (fairly decent size too!)
Dinner - Pork stir fry with Pineapples and Brown Rice; Apple
The food is stuff from your regular supermarket (although I had to get maple sugar from amazon for one popcorn recipe).
There's tons to choose from and I also get the magazine every month so I can switch in some new recipes too.
I fully recommend this book.
I have read other cookbooks like this and found them unappealing, but the recipes in this book would appeal even without the overall premise.
Usally when I pick up a cookbook, a small percentage of the recipes really catch my eye. In this cookbook, there are only a few I am not interested in. The recipes all seem uncomplicated and easy to follow.
In addition to the recipes, there is a small amount of practical dieting information. One feature of this book that I really like is that many of the recipes have a a suggestion at the end for low calorie accompaniments that help turn the recipe into more of a meal.
As you can tell from my other cookbook reviews, I like a well designed cookbook, and this one does not disappoint. It has a nice clean , bold look, and is full of the all-important color photos of the completed recipes.
An all around appealing cookbook, and not just for those trying to diet.
Most recipes also give suggestions of healthy sides you could add for a more complete meal. The calorie estimation is great and its nice to have low-calorie recipes that taste as great as these. For many of the recipes you can also swap and switch out your favorite proteins (though that changes the calorie count), but its a nice option.
There are also great desserts and snacks that are low-calorie! What more could you want? It's great to use a guideline for a lower calorie diet, whether you follow the book from breakfast to dessert each day, or if you just pick and choose a few meals to make throughout the week.
