I have lost over 100 lbs and I have been having a hard time getting the last few off. I tried the 2 Week Challenge to try and cleanse and reboost my body. I dropped 6 lbs in the two weeks and I am continuing to eat the suggested food in the book.
I am enjoying trying out the new recipes in this book. If you are looking for easy to follow recipes that use fresh, healthy ingredients, then you have to give this book a try.
But I have to point out that some of the nutritional data is **inaccurate.** For example, for the Trini chicken: chicken (120cal x 4), 3 tbsp olive oil (120cal x 3), tomatoes (22cal x 2), bell pepper (30cal x 1), onion (30cal x 1), garlic (20cal) = 240 calories per serving, and that's not counting the brown sugar. With the brown sugar, it comes to 270 cals/serving. The book lists this entree as having 200 cal/serving.
The Healthy Huevos: 1 cup frozen organic brown rice (200cal), 1 egg (70cal), 3 strips Fully cooked uncured bacon (100cal), and 1/4 cup salsa (30 cal) = 400 cal/serving, not the 360 listed in the book.
I know in the long run, these small differences don't make much of a difference, but it just bugs me that these are inaccurate!!
This book is comprised of a great collection of easy-to-follow recipes with simple, healthy ingredients which can all be found at my new favorite grocery store, Trader Joe's. The recipes are organized into categories that make it easy to plan an entire meal, from appetizers to salads to main course to desserts. And the accompanying photographs beautifully capture what I have to look forward to when deciding on what to make next. There are also great recipes for healthy snacks, nourishing soups and lean lunches. The real value of this book doesn't end with the many tasty recipes. The author has included vital nutrition facts that define good vs. bad carbs and gives great recommendations on how to boost your metabolism and lose extra belly fat.

Once you open this book, you'll immediately begin dreaming of all the new and easy meals you can put together (guilt free!). It makes a great gift for those friends who label themselves healthy eaters and/or TJs worshipers. It's a fantastic and necessary addition to the family of TJs cook books.
Sidenote: Susan Greeley's passion is no ruse. I contacted her via e-mail asking about a particular item she often used in recipes. Not only did I receive a reply, I received a long and detailed explanation that fully explained the answers to my questions and then some. Since she knew I already paid retail price for her book, she did not need to do this and yet, she did. Passion for her craft, people! It's what makes this book shine.
The other thing I really like about the cookbook is the 2-week challenge. I could probably stand to lose a couple pounds since the holidays and while I won't be sticking to the challenge very strictly (the challenge prohibits ANY dairy which is a bit too extreme for me) the cookbook makes it so easy to plan out a week at a time of healthy yet very fast choices for all meals of the day. Some of them are so simple that I feel a little dumb for not thinking of them on my own (1/2 a whole wheat bagel, almond butter and berries on top).
And lastly, I really enjoy that the author preaches moderation instead of deprivation. I love light cookbooks that surprise me when I see the ingredients and say "you can eat that?!" A pleasant surprise! The author encourages eating carbs in moderation, and HEALTHY fats and gives examples of each. There are even desserts in this cookbook. This cookbook is very do-able in real life.
