I heard about this cookbook and pre-ordered it before release. I'm glad I got it.

I am not disciplined enough nor will my finances allow for a special diet for me and a different one for my husband. I was pleased to see this isn't just a book of recipes, but also contains information that encouraged me to eat healthier.

I thought this book would contain recipes that would work within the Swank/Mcdougall diet, but it does not. Most of the recipes contain dairy of some sort and legumes. I was very disappointed in the recipes that were offered. It seems that the only recipes in line with the diet were for baked fish or chicken which I already know how to make. I was hopeful for some substitutions that would satisfy the strictness of the diet, but I was sadly mistaken. Seems that the only option left is to run my own "test kitchen" to come up with substitutions myself. I'm a foodie and I have a better than average knowledge of cooking so it may be easier for me than others. Either way, don't waste your money on this cookbook as it is not in line at all with the suggested MS diets.

This book has advice that is actually currently considered harmful and unhealthy for MS patients. The most glaring example is the suggestion that people with MS consume dairy every day. Cow's milk is NOT advised for people with MS. Also, the author warns about eating cholesterol, such as that found in eggs. Everyone knows that cholesterol in eggs has not been considered harmful for many years now; if anything, the saturated fat in egg yolks is the thing to watch out for.
I would avoid this book. The author does not seem to be following any scientific guidelines.

I found some of the recipes very primary, but the writing was easy to understand and should be something that an inexperienced cook can master. I felt that the dietary advice was just common sense for anyone and didn't apply specifically to those of us with MS, and I don't think I have ever had a cookbook prior to this one that didn't have an index. On a positive note, each recipe details nutritional facts, which is appreciated. I was disappointed with this book.

This book has incorrect advice in it. For example, it recommends having a minimum amount of dairy every day when there is evidence that lactose and dairy is harmful to many with MS.

It is also not consistent with much other information on recommended MS diets.

I got this text for my boyfriend who has MS. He's the first to admit he knows little about nutrition (although that's been steadily improving, in part with help from this text as well as regular appointments with a certified nutritionist) and even less about cooking, so this book was right up his alley. In addition to a number of simple recepies for healthy eating, it contains quick reference charts listing "definitely eat this" "foods to consume with caution and/or in moderation" and "foods to avoid" which helps when you're overwhelmed with all the information available to address your health and diet in a holistic way.

Easy to read, easy to follow. Fixed the meatloaf for my daughter and Jeff and as picky as they are it went over great! These recipes stear me toward easy recipes and the food that I should be eating. LOV IT

Everything I have read is now called into question because of the sentence "Avoid aspartame and any products containing aspartame as it may cause cancer." Let's see what the professionals say, shall we? Oh, look. No. I stopped reading the text after that.
[...]
I bought the book mostly for the recipes, so maybe I'll still use them. Since a good chunk of the book is guidelines, etc. and there are only 5 sources in the reference section and absolutely no footnotes, it leads me to believe there wasn't very much research done.
