Editorial Reviews

Cook's Country magazine is dedicated to honest-to-goodness American home cooking, offering quick, easy and satisfying meals that don't take hours to put on the table. We highlight Lost Recipes from your youth that you thought were gone forever and Regional Favorites that showcase little-known specialties from across the country, and foolproofs them for the modern kitchen. Every recipe we publish has been tested and retested 20, 30, sometimes 50 times until we come up with a recipe that will work the first time - and every time - you make it. Every issue also includes objective equipment testing and supermarket ingredient tastings so you can shop smart. And each issue of Cook's Country is 100% ADVERTISING FREE, so you get unbiased and objective information on every page. As we like to say at Cook's Country, "We make the mistakes so you don't have to."

I've subscribed to both Cook's Country and Cooks Illustrated for years -- in paper form. I switched to the Kindle version so I wouldn't have to keep storing so many magazines...big mistake.

Its the same great magazine, except very hard to read on the Kindle. It's not formatted well, and words (sometimes complete sentences or pages) are not in the right order, or they're missing altogether. I cancelled the Kindle subscription and went back to the paper version.

The think about Cook's Country is this magazine is the culmination of reader recipes and the test cooks from Cooks Illustrated. Recipes are thoroughly tested and they're easy to read and follow.

I purchased a single copy for my Kindle, sort of a try and buy, and I like the flow and how the magazine reads on the Kindle. I will be subscribing.

We used to read another of their magazines but found the recipes too gourmet for our lifestyle... then we found this one. It is just what good homecooking is all about. It gives you the what, how and even the whys for making the very best comfort food for your family. These recipes are easy to make, with common ingredients that you can get EVERYWHERE, no special gourmet aisles in this one. Everything from Sunday dinners to everyday sandwiches is in here for you. I especially love the articles that explain why something works while something else won't.
Recipes are delicious and you can learn to be a better cook from reading this magazine.

Cancelled my subscription before the 30 day free trial ended. This magazine did not hold my interest. Also found it a little difficult to read on my Fire.

I would say this is an ok magazine but I prefer Paula Deen, Southern Lady and TeaTime. Others may like Cook's Country better.

I've enjoyed this magazine for years, but 2 years ago I canceled my subscription. Nothing wrong with the mag, they are just to nice to throw away, and they were beginning to take up some room. Now I get it with my Kindle app. I'll be able to store the older mags in the cloud and call them back when I need them. Oh, about the mag. Great recipes, I've had both success and a few failures. As the author tells you how he arrives at the perfect recipes he explains some cooking techniques along the way. This is what makes America's Test Kitchen products a cut above. You don't just get a picture and a list of ingredients, and they don't assume everyone has had experience with all foods and cooking techniques. There is also quetions and answers section, helpful hints from readers, product reveiws for ingredients, and things used around the kitchen.

This is a great magazine for the home cook. The methods and instructions are excellent. While I may not always find I like the recipe due to personal taste, I have NEVER had one of them fail to work as described. I regularly try their recipes, while I read and move on for other magazines. The equipment reviews are also excellent and unbiased, I have made several purchases based on these reviews and have not been disappointed. Highly recommended.
