Building on the success of my cool caravan and my cool campervan in 2010 and 2011, this follow-up book celebrates the humble and not so humble shed, from artists' studios to beach huts, and the diverse ways in which owners are styling them. my cool shed features 35 sheds, small cabins, garden rooms, beach huts, modern architectural mini masterpieces and other small spaces given purpose by their owners to pursue their hobbies, careers, creative endeavours or just to find some peace and solitude. The book includes high-quality stylish photography to show a wide range of well styled and elegant sheds, cabins, dens and hidewaways in attractive locations. The owners' stories and accompanying style notes offer insight as well as inspiration. This is not a 'how to' book, although a sourcebook will be included, but more of a 'feel good' book and provider of inspiration.

About the Author
Jane Field-Lewis is a London-based stylist working in photography, film and TV. She is the co-author of my cool caravan and my cool campervan, and the author of my cool shed. She is also the creator and creative consultant and stylist behind the hit C4 series Amazing Spaces. She has an enduring love for both people and style, believing the two are closely entwined. Her career is based on the aesthetic, whether high- or low-style, natural or created, and across people and objects. She has, of course, had a great many kitchens, ranging from her tiny vintage caravan to her current kitchen in the basement of her London home.

There isn't really much here that is inspirational. It's a small and somewhat random collection of photos of small utility buildings done up nicely into studios and playhouses. The photos are nice, the paper quality is ok, but there aren't really any guiding principles. "Someone did this ... and then someone else did that." You don't really get ideas, you just leaf through going "Oh ... that's sort of nice." It's a coffee table book, not a helpful design toolbox.

I bought this book for my husband, who dreams of having a shed in our backyard. The creative buildings and beautiful photography combine for a fun, imaginative book to read over and over again.

This book is okay. Nice picture book but not enough detail in either the text or pictures.

Bought for a friend who was venturing off into a creative field. Book is smaller than a traditional coffee table book but was very well received nonetheless.

Annoying in it's lack of content
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 3, 2016Verified Purchase
This book does not provide practical advice, layout plans, longshot photos of the interiors, or info about materials used or anything about suppliers and fitters. The photos are frustratingly uninformative with close ups of a partial window or the corner of a table. You have no idea as to how these shed interiors are laid out or how the owners solved storage and general living requirements.. If you are looking for a book to point you in the right direction for creating a shed of your own this book will not get you started. There is nothing practical or useful within. Same applies to "My Cool Campervan" by the same author.

A really nice present for someone who has a cool shed.

Bought this for a friend who has a cool shed. We originally saw this, battered to heck, on a coffee table in a garden centre, and loved it. The images in the book, and the stories of the people who made the sheds are great. The various locations and settings for the sheds is fascinating. I didn't read the whole book (as it's a gift), but read some of the copy in the garden centre, and thought the photography was lovely too.
This is a wonderful 'coffee table' book, and a really nice present for someone who has a cool shed. there are so many wonderful ideas in here.. And so many people with waaaaaay too much money or time on their hands :)

Pleasing to the eye, this is a nice book although I would have maybe have liked some ideas about how to achieve certain design ideas for utilising the small spaces for storage etc
