This beautiful pergola will certainly upscale your outdoor entertaining! No more sun beating down on your neck! This offers a shade solution that transitions from day to evening as the cover is fully retractable allowing for star gazing without moving from your comfy lounger. It has a sophisticated and architectural alternative to lower cooling costs by reducing temperatures up to 32% to protect furniture, tiling, or decking from fading and to battle against sun and rain deterioration. Two people required for assembly.

However, there are a few cons:
1- if you're in a area with high wind you'll need anchor them down
2- they rattle a good bit in wind as well
3- one of mine was missing a carabiner that the canopy attaches to (not a huge deal, I made it work without it)
4- here's the big one.... and I'll preface this by saying that the damage was preventable had I thought to draw back or remove the canopies with pending snow (we don't get much snow in SC, so I'll blame my ignorance on that)... the canopies cannot hold the weight of snow, so either draw them open or remove them all together. I came home from work today to both of them having caved in with bent poles and a lot of damage.
Not sure how to go about ordering replacement parts, or if coolaroo monitors these posts, but maybe someone can help me out with finding replacement parts or if any of this could be under warranty.
4 stars only because of the noisiness in the wind and missing carabiner. Great product, highly recommended.
It's now May 2017. The canopy has been up for 1 year. Only come across two issues. The metal is fading. But this is Florida and we are only about a mile from the sun. The canopy is still in good condition. No rips or fading on the fabric. It survived a hurricane outside. All we did as tie the canopy back to the posts. The canopy is bolted down with spikes so we weren't taking it down. The rope did not last the year. But we had a second center beam the company sent us so we just swapped them out. So far still loving this.
Like the other reviewers say, it's pretty good. Light weight, not terribly sturdy but adequate to the task IF you don't lean on it and IF you mount it properly. We love ours.
Reviewer JoanR offered a great idea which we adopted and which you might want to consider. She says:
"The retractable top comes with a sort of corded pulley system with about 20 feet of cord that dangles and must be wrapped on the front tie-down. A much simpler solution is to eliminate the cord altogether and tie a short loop to the front carabiner and simply drag the top open or closed. No dangling cords."
We did this with ours--we had a strap from a camera bag which we weren't using, removed the cord, and used the clips on the camera bag strap to clip to the existing hardware (see photos--I played with the exposure to make them lighter and easier to see). It's now easy as pie to open and close the top with one hand, and to fix it in place in open or closed position with the camera bag strap. This is REALLY worth doing, makes it much easier to use. I don't know why the manufacturer didn't do this in the first place.
