Noise Level Just Noticeable, but Not Distracting

The Cooler Master 200mm Case Fan MF200R is as described in the product description. Its noise level is just noticeable when focusing on it, but it's not distracting. For a 200mm fan, there is not a lot of airflow generated. It's enough to create positive pressure in the case but was barely felt when placing my hand near its outflow side.

The RGB works great. Its colors are driven by an ASRock motherboard-specific RGB app called ASRRGBLED. I have LED strip lights in my Thermaltake computer case with an unused connector on the end of the strip. My original plan was to use a four-pin LED splitter cable attached to the motherboard that I purchased from Amazon. After noticing the unused connector on my lighting strip, however, I decided to connect the fan's RGB cable there using one of the four pin connectors that came with the splitter cable.

There are eight mounting holes on the Cooler Master 200MM fan. Determining what ones to use was done by holding the new fan up to the broken one it replaced. The screws provided with the new fan worked perfectly in the threaded case holes. For cases without threaded holes, Cooler Master included tapered wide threaded screws to self-tap any case fan mounting hole.

I'm happy that I got this fan. There are not a lot of case fan options available in the 200mm size. The Cooler Master provides adequate case airflow and motherboard-controlled RGB color schemes. My only wish is that it came with a four-pin fan speed connector instead of the three-pin connector. That would have given my bios the ability to control the fan's speed based on the temperature of the CPU.

I bought this to replace the fan that came with my Thermaltake case. I wanted to have the rgb function due to the glass in the front, even though the original fan worked fine. I can't say I'm thrilled with the result. It lights up but the leds are very distinct, which looks cheap and the glow is boring. It's a little quieter than the stock one but not by much. All in all, I'm kinda wishing I hadn't wasted my time. I may yank it and send it back 🤔.

Some backstory, I have a thermaltakeC31 case with 2 200mm fans up front and run an Air Cooled Build. I tested this CoolerMaster fan against both the stock Thermaltake fan as well as a cheap UpHere 200mm fan. To test I ran one fan mounted top front and the Colermaster mounted bottom front in both scenarios. The Coolermaster 200MF200r pushed more air through the case then both the thermaltake and uphere. Now that I know the MF200r pushes more air I am ordering 1 more so to have 2 Coolermaster 200mms running in the front of the case. I run the 200 MM fans at 100% and the Coolermaster is also very quiet at that speed. The 2 backside 140mm fans I have running are louder. The LED's are nothing special but for the price you get a lot of performance. Also if you are going for a Purple lighted build like I am the Purple Color you get from the CoolerMaster leds looks much better. Purple seems to be a tricky color for LEDs to pull off correctly, usually it appears too washed out or to much blue. With Coolermasters brand color being purple I assumed they could pull off a good purple color and that assumption was correct.

Does not fit HAF_XB_EVO cube case. Even though it is a Cooler Master fan for a Cooler Master case there is no way it would fit. Mounting holes did not line up with case holes. I installed one screw then rotated the fan around to get it to fit the case. No way. I could have kludged up some solution if desperate but there are too many cheaper fans available to fuss with this one. Very disappointing. Fan itself looked nice.

There are better functioning 200mm fans out there like Noctua

Replaced an R4-200R-08FC-R1 MF200R RGB fan on my CM h500p because it was rattling after only a month (with the same fan). Fan came with less wobble than the original fans had, and no misaligned sticker so that's a plus in my book. There are better functioning 200mm fans out there like Noctua, but I don't think you can go wrong with this fan if you want 200mm fans and RGB. If you don't want RGB, look elsewhere. At 800rpm (800rpm max) they move a TON of air as long as they aren't being choked. The noise they make is more of 'windy' than say 'turbulent'. If you can't stand the sound of a good quiet room fan, you will find this to sound the same.

200mm fans are notoriously unreliable still, so know what you're getting into! CM actually scores very well in 200mm fan roundups, with only Noctua really consistently being better (and IMO uglier). Just know what you're getting, a lot of people don't realize 200mm fans have these issues. 200mm FANS DO NOT HAVE GOOD STATIC PRESSURE, so filters can significantly choke them off (CM h500p mesh front works fine, component temps stayed the same from no front panel to mesh).

Overall, the fan seems to push a good amount of air and is super quiet. My one small issue (as others have mentioned) is the placement of mounting holes. The edges are wider than others, so rotating it to your liking may be difficult. Luckily it worked for my Phanteks Enthoo Pro case. The second issue is the level of aRGB lighting the fan has. Unlike my smaller fans - two Zalman and 3 MSI cooler fans, this one can only shift colors in sequence. In other words, it cannot mix colors or have other cool effects with Mystic Light. For those flaws I removed one star. I hope a newer version fixes these common flaws. Four stars for functionality and build quality.

***Update***
I ended up returning this fan for the Zezzio 200mm (actual) ARGB fan. My temps inside the case rose a bit and the false advertising got to me. If you want basic colors and don't want maximum airflow, then this fan is for you.

A lot of details were lacking on this product when purchased, so hopefully this clears that up.

It is a 3 pin. This wasn't stated anywhere. in the QA section...someone said it was 4 pin so I went for it. It's not

It does not fit in the Cooler Master HAF XB. I hoped it would, and read others had succeeded. It did not...at least this model did not.

Those things aside, if you need a RGB fan thats a square 200mm and ok with it being 3 pin...this is a good product and price. has seperate RGB line to connect to your header or splits for other RGB. Does not include another splitter though.

Terrible Warranty Experience

I bought a H500P Mesh case. There was something wrong with one of the 200mm fans when I first bought it, 2 YEARS AGO, I held onto a wobbling scratching fan for 2 YEARS because I thought it was going to get replaced by warranty!

I asked for a replacement by going through their terribly designed warranty system that requires you to sign up and "apply for a ticket" system which doesn't have much of a place to communicate except "commenting on the ticket" which can take up to 1 week for a response so you just have to check back.

The rep told me they would replace it, but said because of covid, there would be no ETA (estimated time arrival). I said okay, that's understandable. I waited 1 whole year before I came back to ask about the situation, and they said "sorry, covid no eta". I waited another 6 months and went through the whole support ticket again. They tell me, "We've got a 200mm fan for you ! Let us confirm your address !". I said okay, gave them my address. THEY EMAIL ME BACK SAYING "Sorry, we looked at your video again and everything is operating normally". There was nothing right about my fan, it would make a terrible screeching noise until I helped it balance by stopping the fan with my finger and letting it go. It would take multiple tries ! EVERYTIME I TURNED ON MY COMPUTER.

I've got to say, these new fans are okay, but if you get ANYTHING FAULTY, this company WILL DRAG OUT YOUR WARRANTY AND YOUR PATIENCE UNTIL IT RUNS OUT SO THEY CAN DENY YOUR CLAIM. FOR 2 YEARS ! I cannot accept express how unacceptable this kind of behavior is for a company and over a $1 - $5 manufactured fan. I literally sell these products myself and have made some custom changes and know the reality of the costs; this company has absolutely ATTROCIOUS warranty practices.

The fan looks nice, but thats it. The cables are too short, flimsy and cheap plastic, which I would expect from a cheap Chinese product, but not from a world renowned company like CoolerMaster selling this for over $30 CAD.

Do yourself a favor and buy the cheap Chinese knockoff fans. This coolermaster product is probably identical to theirs.
