As others have mentioned, it's great cooling in a small package.
Even in Coolermaster cases, it doesn't play well with others, specifically HDD cages. If you put this in an N200 or N400, be prepared to be using the Hard Disk Mounts of Last Resort (i.e. mounting screw holes in the sides and bottom of the case).
Whoever designed the mounting bracket that attaches to the pump body doesn't understand how screws work. You have to drive the screw through a hole in the plastic flange from the pump body and THEN into a threaded hole on the mounting bracket. Normal (i.e. every other mounting bracket, including all of the ones that Coolermaster makes) involves a screw going through the mounting bracket first and THEN into the pump so that you're sandwiching the mounting bracket between the screw head and the pump body flange. Be prepared to spend an hour with a big pair of pliers and a screwdriver just getting the mounting brackets on the pump/CPU block. The rest of installation is a breeze, but for some reason they chose to make this part really difficult.
Cooler Master's included LHA 2011-v3 bracket, and standard LHA 2011-v3 brackets are not compatible with ASRock X99E-ITX/AC LHA 2011-v3 as the dimensions on the ASRock motherboard are non standard. This is why ASRock include an air cooler plus a custom liquid cooling bracket in the box. ASRock's included liquid cooling bracket is designed for the lower end Cooler Master Seidon 120v (120v Plus).
With some modifications (bending), the ASRock included water cooler bracket will fit the Nepton 240M. This mod is straight forward providing you have some tools to get the bends just right. Pictures are attached to demonstrate.
Overall the Nepton 240m appears to do the job and runs nice and quiet. We opted for a pull config, with air flow from inside to outside of the case.
The fans that where included where extremely quite for the first week. Now they are making a weird noise and getting louder (unless I run the fan at higher RPM). I believe it is an issue with the fan RPM not liking being adjusted. It is either let the fans spin down to below (what the BIOS says is) ~80% max RPM and the air noise is quiet, but then the motors themselves start making a noise. Run them slower down to 50% of max RPM and it is unbearable. For now I have the RPM near 100% speed and live with the air noise because it is quieter.
if you have a ceiling fan that has variable speed, and (some that I have noticed) the air movement is fairly quiet, but when you adjust the speed, the motor sometimes makes a humming noise... That is basically the same noise from the included Cooler Master fans. Only the noise is getting louder.
If anybody has any recommendation for replacement fans, I would be interested.
pros- when I first built my rig this thing ran cool like a champ. super cool. super quiet.
cons- lasted a month. and now that I'm going and looking at the negative reviews here, newegg, and other vendors and online... its extremely common. mine died quick. some people claim it lasted closer to 3 months or so... if some people have had it for a long time great... its under manufacturing warranty. and all the negative reviews on here coolermaster customer service has been leaving their number to contact them about the problem... well ive tried multiple days now and they don't answer their calls even during business hours. you wait in line on an automated service and have to leave a message. and no one has called me back or contacted me in any way.
summary- use EXTREME CAUTION buying this product. maybe youll get lucky. if youre like the rest of us.. youre gonna get a poor product. possibly damage your system. and then customer service apparently doesn't do anything. looking forward to trashing the company on newegg and some other forums I have been reading about my same exact issues with the product AND poor customer service.
here is a link to a slightly more expensive cooler but arguably better cooler and better customer service.
