I had this PSU in my computer over the course of a variety of upgrades since I bought it. New video card, new motherboard, more memory, 2 more hard drives, several more fans, etc.
My computer's load went from about 500w to about 750w and this thing endured. When I went over its recommended capacity it already had some age on it. I ran my 750w system (based on newegg's calculator) with this power supply for at least a year of gaming. By gaming I mean 3d graphics and my load increased because I put a video card that permitted me to run everything on ultra. So I basically put as much load on this PSU as I possibly could.
Mine died and I took it the case off of it to see if I could tell why. There was a part that was visibly expanded and a clump of dust right next to it. So I suspect that the PSU did not quit from wear but actually from that clump of dust shorting something out.
If you are building a system on a budget with upgrades planned in the future, from my experience, this thing is a great value. It will likely outlast and outperform your best expectations.
