Solid power supply but only moderately quiet

This product has a decent number of connections, has a nice design, and provides good power. No problems there. It's not a high-end modular PSU but it works.

My only bone with it is that it has this great big fan that makes you think it's going to be quiet, but it's not. It's really quite loud for a new PSU. I'm tempted to send it back because I really value silence and this generates at least 10 times the noise my aftermarket CPU cooler does. The only PSU's I have heard that are this loud have dual tiny fans or have bearings that have worn out.

My computer hardly uses any watts. I wonder if I could jimmy this fan to spin more slowly...

============== Update: several months later ===============

I realized two things that make this PSU better than I thought it was.

1. The fan in this is easily user replaceable. You do have to remove a sticker that says "warranty void if removed" but it's easy and the inside fan is standard and uses a standard connection, so you can replace it with any cheap super-quiet 120mm fan you find.

2. I had this mounted such that the fan pulled air directly from outside the case, through the PSU, and then out the back. But I realized you can also set it up the other way, so that the fan pulls air from inside the computer and blows it out the back. Switching to this configuration (i.e., flipping the PSU over), it is now MUCH quieter. If I had installed it this way originally I probably never would have complained. It's not silent by any means, but it is far, far quieter than it used to be and compares favorably with other power supplies I have had.

Unfortunately I already ordered an expensive fanless PSU to replace this one. If I had realized these two things, I wouldn't have done that. Actually, maybe I'll refuse delivery on the new one and keep this one.

I'm "rebuilding" my prebuilt computer so I started off looking around for a new PSU and GPU. This PSU came to mind so I bought it. It came with instruction I didn't need because I have replaced many PSUs before but looking at it, it looks confusing for someone who has never built or replaced a part on their PC. It shows pictures and no written Installation steps. Simply shows a Desktop and to take off the side panel. Then it shows the same Desktop but to slide the PSU in and then shows to put the screws in then to put the panel back on. It has no information about the 20+4 Pin Mobo connector nor the 6+2 Pin connector. (None of the hook ups had any installation tutorial but these are more important in my opinion) (Installation wise.) It does show information on all the hook ups like Voltage and the color of the wires. Also has quite a few different languages to choose from. Now quoting from the Installation/Warranty paper, "If you are not familiar with computer hardware installation, please ask for professional assistance." I agree with this sentence so please if you are confused by the instruction/have no experience with computer hardware, please please get someone with more computer knowledge to replace yours. The PSU it's self seems to be running as it should so no complaints. I think they should have elaborated more on the instructions or had more information on the wires so you know which ones you would use on your Desktop.

My 10 year old desktop, which I built myself started to freeze, shutdown and was becoming just unreliable. I did a little research and noticed that the voltage that the machine was getting was just all over the place, so I knew it was time to replace the power supply. The Cooler Master was in the price range I was willing to pay for such an old machine (especially with the $10 rebate card), plus I put in the 500w, which was more than the original Antec True Blue 430 watt already in place. Installation was a breeze, just a matter of looking what you unplugged where and plugging the same plugs on the new power supply after you mount it up. Mounting is easy, just use the included screws and line them up with the mounting holes in your case. The power supply appeared to solve all of my issues. Since its installation my computer is running fine, and the voltages are exactly where they should be. I hope this power supply lasts as long as my original did, it seems pretty rugged, so it has a shot. The fan on this drive is slightly louder than my previous power supply which had both a rear mounted fan and a downward pointing fan. It's not "super silent" as the manufacturer claims.

One of the computers in our house had a power supply failure. I am an advanced computer technician and I am familiar with the various PSU manufacturers. I have used many of the Cooler Master products so when I saw this PSU I knew I was on the right track for a quality product. I did a search for reviews of the Cooler Master power supplies and found many favorable reviews. I decided to purchase this PSU from The Nerds because they had the best price.

My order went smoothly as have all of my transactions I have made with Amazon and their partner sellers. I received communications concerning my order. The Nerds shipped my power supply quickly and it was well packaged. It arrived several days before the estimated time. Installation was the same day and the power supply is working perfectly and has a 2 year warranty.

My experience with The Nerds was a full 5 star transaction. I would recommend The Ners to others and would buy from them again should a needs arise. I will reserve my recommendation of Cooler Master power supplies until this power supply has been in use for 1 year. You could get a DOA power supply from any mfg. I really didn't need 700 watts but chose the 700 watt to have extra power so the power supply won't have to work as hard. I am a satisfied customer as I have been with every Amazon purchase.

This is really a great product. You never want to skimp on a power supply unit when building your computer, and this is a great option for a middle range computer rig. I have had this unit for about 4 months at this point, and there have been no problems with it whatsoever. An important thing to look for when buying PSU's is how quiet it runs, and so look no further! If this is the correct wattage for your rig, then you will be happy with the quiet and proficiency of this product.
