Ok let's start with the pros:

PROS
Cheap
Respected Name in PSU's
Semi-Modular
Solid power
Quiet

CONS
Cables are a little short
Could use more cables

I like this power supply, I mean I gave it 4 stars. It powers my set up nicely (Dual Core, XFX 750i mobo, Dual 9800GTX+ in Sli, 2x500GB Sata Caviar, Sata DVDRW, 5x 120mm fans). I seem to be getting great power to all of my components which are above average for a normal user, but on the mid-range for the gaming community. I like the modular design, and the cables are pretty solid when plugged in to the PSU. I will say however that the cables are pretty short. I have a CM690 II Advance, which is classified as a mid-atx tower, but the PSU left little to no room for cable management.

The motherboard cables could not by any means be run under my motherboard tray (which is specifically designed for this purpose). I in fact had to buy an 8 pin motherboard header extender to be able to reach it at all without going through my video cards...I would also like to have seen a few spare modular cables too. I mean, some people need more molex connectors, some need more sata....ALSO there was only one 6 Pin PCIE Power cable, which obviously was not enough for me so I also had to purchase seperately. I know it's not marketed as an SLI Ready PSU, however I think adding an extra one of those wouldn't have killed CM's profits?? Right???

BOTTOM LINE

This is a great power supply, it runs cool and quiet and has enough juice to power a moderate to powerful set-up. In a smaller case you would be able to disregard half of my criticisms, but I think the lack of extra modular cables is pretty universal. Would I purchase it again? Probably, unless I found something else in this price range with better features.

Nice feature: All the internal power cables are removable so you don't have to keep unused wires inside your computer case.

Perfect. Clean. Quiet. Modular.

This replaced one that kept killing my mother boards.

Comes with 2 SLI power cables. Not much more to say that it does what its supposed to do.

This has to be the worst power supply I've ever purchased. I purchased two of these, one for my daughter's computer and the second for a backup. I've been building PCs since the 90s and have never had two of the same power supply fail in two weeks. I put the second one in to replace the first failed PS and after a week, it died too. Please stay way from this brand. Don't cheap out on power supplies as this is the front line of your computer. Spend a little more for a brand name and save yourself some heartache!

Five or so years ago, I had a CoolMax power supply. That power supply proved to be a consistent and durable performer; it did not die, eventual motherboard upgrades made it obsolete. I have since moved on to higher quality power supplies (Seasonic and Antec), but when a motherboard upgrade required me to replace the power supply, I thought that I would give this CoolMax a chance. The selling points were that it is relatively inexpensive, has modular cables, and has a five year warranty.

When I opened the box, I was a little disappointed. There was a piece of paper that directed you to the Coolmax website for reading the manual. The PSU was in a thin plastic bag and the modular cables were held with a wrap tie. The PSU itself felt sturdy enough. The non-modular cables are the motherboard, CPU, and two SATA cables. All of the cables have a nylon wrap, but it looks of inferior quality.

I placed the PSU in my CoolerMaster mid-tower, which has the PSU mounted at the bottom. The motherboard and CPU power cables were not even close to reaching the motherboard when the PSU was properly mounted. When I say not even close, I am talk 2 inches too short. In fairness, if this PSU were top mounted, the cable length should be sufficient. However, this is the first time that I have purchased a PSU who's cables were too short to reach the motherboard. I will return to the higher end PSU.

Things to consider when reading my review is that I did not actually power on the PSU.

Great Power supply! absolutely nothing bad about it loved it 110% except its a little different from the picture you only have 3 items modular: PCI x2 and peripheral (2/4) and SATA (2/4) and is only 3 items are modular not 7. but other than that im happy what I got. The only bad is that and amazon is like taco bell, you never know when something will be bad. or a wrong order.

I needed multi rail for massive video card. Will be running crossfire soon. I wish it had more sata than other's but still a good buy. Modular is a huge plus for cable mang.

Installed this PSU and it sounds like a popcorn machine. It would cut on and off randomly. Return for a different brand!!!
