Hi! We bought these to take care of a small set of Christmas lights. Yes it does work! It makes them flicker and blink! Hence the main use for them. But here's the big warning I want everyone to know. DO NOT TOUCH IT AFTER IT'S IN OPERATION. IT GETS VERY HOT. I just burned my finger 4 days ago from the time of this posting and thankfully only blisters formed. So do not let your kids get close to it let alone touch it. It being an electrical device is enough reason for any kid not to touch it, then add the hot temp.

I purchased 4 of these flashers. I have 2 of them working with 2 sets of lights each which are in 2 windows. They have been working perfectly!. I had another working with 4 light sets that are outside the house. The flasher itself was NOT outside. It worked for 1 day and then stopped working. I bought 4 of them and so replaced the non-working unit. That one worked for 3 days and then also crapped out. Thus the title of the review is 50%. I'd give them a rating of 2 1/2 stars.

Before you buy, clearly understand that these devices are a gamble. It will cost as much to return one as it will to just buy another. Order about 30% - 40% more than you need and be prepared to throw away a handful. These are a thermomechanical device that simply uses a bi-metal tab (internally) that breaks the connection when it gets hot, then makes the connection again after it cools. When they work properly, they will "wink" the light about 2-3 times per minute.

flashers did not work even changed the polarity in the AC outlet. Customer service response was indifferent yes they refunded costs but freight was 3 times the cost of the product They ship a nomworking product they should eat the freight cost or at least midigate some of the cost It is not the amount it is the principal and these people simply do not get it

They do the job if their is enough of a load on the circut.
They will blink LED light sets if you put a large incandesent light set first. But again it must draw a large enough load or the blinking looks more like an itermittant short. The unit gets REALLY hot while in use.

And the blinking is not perfectly like clockwork, it is rather random and free flowing at times.

I got a 7.5 foot pre-lit Hammacher Schlemmer Christmas tree, and was disappointed that the lights stay constantly lit without any option to chase or flash. HS directed me to call the manufacturer, National Tree Service, but the manufacturer never called back. Online research taught me that LED Christmas lights cannot be changed to twinkle lights with the change of a bulb to a red tipped bulb. They just stay on. I also learned that because of the low power draw, many adaptors don't work on LED lights.

I gave this adaptor a try based on reviews, and it worked almost instantly. The lights flash from very bright to dim to very bright. The only disappointment here is that the flashing is not as fast as I might like, and there is no twinkle or chasing option. I gave it four stars because it only does one basic option, at a speed that is not all that pleasing to me. I'm still looking for an adaptor or controller that is not too complicated (I don't want to have to program my computer or anything to use it) and that will make my LED Christmas lights twinkle or chase. Unfortunately, my LED light strands do not connect to each other with polarized plugs, so I cannot use the multiple plug controllers I've seen so far. The search continues.

I use these outlet flashers for increased visibility of the signs and lighting for my business. The flashers were probably designed for, and are very useful for holiday lighting. The good: these flashers are very inexpensive and versatile. The bad: occasionally a brand-new flasher is dead-on-arrival; a few flashers fail after a few hours of operation; but... some of the flashers will work for months. Acknowledging a high failure rate, keep a few spare flashers on hand.

It seems like they don't work. But the problem is with the electrical load. If you don't have enough lights hooked up, the product doesn't work. It needs like at least 20W of load. So I have put up a 16W fluorescent lamp at the end of my Christmas lights (using an compatible adapter) and it works, otherwise it doesn't. So I had the Christmas lights + the lamp both flashing.
