About the Author

Since his appointment as Milwaukee County Sheriff in March 2002, David A. Clarke Jr. has been elected to serve in that position for four consecutive terms. Clarke graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a degree in Criminal Justice Management. He is also a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Sheriff Clarke received an M.A. in Security Studies from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, in Monterey, California in September 2013. He was honored with the 2013 Sheriff of the Year Award from the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, and in 2016 he was named Law Enforcement Leader of the Year by the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Association Foundation (FLEOA). A regular and frequent guest on the FOX News network, Sheriff Clarke and his wife, Julie, live in Milwaukee, WI.

Great Read! This is an excellent book. After reading this book and after spending many of my own years in law enforcement I wished I had been a deputy in Sheriff David Clarkes' department. I love cop books anyway, but usually books about fictional cops like Harry Bosch or John Rebus or Inspector Morse or Martin Beck or Tracy Crosswhite etc. etc. This book, though, is just as entertaining! An inside look about what it's like to be an actual police officer, where you'll have a 30% higher suicide or alcoholism rate than the average person, and live ten years less long. Sheriff Clarke has an amazing writing style and the book is a page-turner.

I met Sheriff Clarke at a Florida Gang Investigators Association Conference in Fort Lauderdale a few years ago. I have been a huge fan ever since. This book just reinforces my opinion. Sheriff Clarke is one of the few people that says it like it is. He also has tact though.Watch him on an interview or debate. He won't interrupt people and will pause for the other person to finish when he is interrupted. He is an incredible man. This book talks about a lot of the things that he has been under fire about. As usual, Sheriff Clarke backs up everything he says with facts and evidence from many sources.

This is a well written book explaining Mr. Clark's experiences in law enforcement. I've been a fan of his since he stepped up and was brave enough to call out the injustices reported by the media. As I read the book, I learn more and more about his experiences as a black member of law enforcement. I laughed my head off at the beginning of the book when he talks about his father's reaction to an action between David Clarke and a cop when David was a kid.

I appreciated these topics in the book: the many community benefits of marriage, the great risks law enforcement officers take each day in order to help the populace, the waste and ridiculousness of TSA, the out-of-control federal government spending, the over-dependance on cops to save the day every day, and above all - the responsibility of each and every U.S. citizen to make responsible choices to ensure a safe neighborhood and work hard to earn an honest living while positively contributing to society.

He did a good job of writing and he writes like he talks so be careful, it's tough. I don't think he will ever go into campaigning for elected office now. I don't think it's for him. He does well without that.

An excellent and disturbing account of the real life hardships and threats that Sheriff David Clarke and American Law Enforcement officers face in Obama and the Democrat's America from domestic terrorist groups like Black Lives Matter.
