Wow. This is probably the strangest covers album I have ever heard. Powerman 5000 doing Jump? I would absolutely love this live at my favorite pub instead of the typical rock band doing covers. I feel the same way listening to this as I do when I listen to Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys. I don't want to like this, but I do.

I'm not sure why people are hating on this cover album. Do you guys not read before you buy? It clearly states that this is a cover album, and there are cover samples of the ENTIRE ALBUM for you too listen too! What the hell?

Anyways, the tracks range from hard rock to synth-pop and new wave. I love the album. In fact, you can read a real review here that will give you a better description than I could ever give.

I was well aware that this album was comprised of nothing but covers, but that doesn't bother me. Really, I hadn't heard the original versions of most of the songs on this album, but I don't feel I need to knowing I'd most likely prefer the PM5K version. It doesn't all have the Powerman signiture feel, but most of the tracks are still good. My favorites were 20'th Century Boy, Whip It, Devil Inside, and Should I stay Or Should I Go. Like others have said before, if you're not a huge fan of Powerman 5000 you may not care for this album. In my opinion, Spider One has never released a bad CD.

The audio quality of the disc is absolutely great. Production values are clean, even if there is almost no dynamic range (typical of production after 2000).

lows: 20th Century Boy, Candy-O

highs: pretty much everything else~~

unless there is a ridiculous need of convenience of downloading, I still recommend everyone buy disc and rip it themselves.

I am a huge fan of PM5K. I saw they had this out and decided to buy it anyway even though I don't like those songs from the original artists they covered. A few surprised me, a few didn't. I would say the high points if you were buying them individually are :

Jump
20th century boy
electric avenue
should I stay or should I go

I love the cover tune recordings from bands I already like. This one is really well done - excellent choice of tunes for someone who graduated high school in the 80's :) I did miss the heavyness of them though - not the usual Guitar going on - even in the spots where these songs have Crunchy Guitar originally.

I'm a huge fan of Pm5k, and I'm loving this album so far. Their cover of "Whip It" is probably the weirdest thing I've ever heard, yet it is strangely fitting. All the cover choices are really perfect for their musical and lyrical style. Recommend to any fans of the band! They have yet to release a bad album.

PM5K has some fully righteous stuff...and they have some pooh.
The whole cd warrants a listen, cause its a nod to an awesome generation of tunage. Three or four warrant a purchase. Oh, and cover your ears for the Twisted Sister remake. Ugh! I didn't think it was even an interesting take.
