Product Description
This bare copper wire is suitable for use in crafts or for electrical grounding wire use. This single-strand wire is annealed for improved ductility and meets QQ-W-343 standards for uninsulated copper wire. It also meets ASTM B3 standards for annealed copper wire and complies with Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) regulations. This copper wire is suitable for use in crafts such as jewelry and weaving or for uninsulated wiring applications.
Electrical wire carries an electric current or grounds an electrical device. The amount of current a wire can carry is proportional to its size (gauge), and the wire is generally sheathed with coatings and coverings to insulate and protect it from moisture, chemicals, heat, and abrasion. Copper is the primary material for electrical wire, but alloys are sometimes used to increase its strength or its resistance to chemicals and the environment. Wire can be composed of a single strand or of many smaller strands, depending on its use, and is typically annealed to improve its ductility. Electrical wire is commonly used in industrial, electronic, and automotive applications.

However, the 2nd and 3rd time, I received 20 gauge, not the 14gauge I paid for. The spools were originally labeled as 20ga, but had a new Amazon label noting '14gauge' placed over the original. This appears to be an Amazon warehousing issue because it appears to have come from the manufacturer labeled correctly.
I would love to get the 14gauge bare copper; but don't want another 20 gauge spool. Help!

However, the spool was shipped to me in a bubble wrap envelope, which got very beat up in transit. The entire outer surface of wires were all banged up (scratched & dented). I contacted Amazon and they told me I could keep the damaged wire and they would ship me a new one. I did tell the person at Amazon that given the weight of the wire, if they continued to send the spools in envelopes, they would likely continue to get damaged in transit.
The new one also came in a bubble wrap envelope and was all banged up. I figured that between the 2 damaged spools, I had at least 1 good spools-worth of 14g wire I could use. So, I just left it at that.
