It's been raining for days in the town of Mayville Heights and the art co-op is flooding. Kathleen is helping to move the art to a drier floor upstairs, but when she and friend Maggie go to the basement, there is a floater down there in all the water. One of the artists, a mask maker named Jaeger Merrill, is dead in the water. Kathleen and the magical cats have their work cut out for them even if police detective Marcus Gordon thinks it might be better if Kathleen doesn't get mixed up in a crime investigation again.
This is the third book in the Magical Cats Mystery series written by Sofie Kelly. These are cozy mysteries where the crime victims are not very well known to the reader and there is little violence. The cats are very funny and make this series worth reading. Kathleen is a great character who has a humorous way of dealing with cats who are there one minute and gone the next and who are also very nosey, but extremely helpful in solving cases. The writing is good and the stories are well-crafted and thought out into a good mystery. As with most cozies, there is something to learn about the subject matter and art is the subject as well as the cats in this one. I really like the character of Kathleen as well as her friends who always have coffee ready and something tasty to go with it.
It will be great fun to see what happens in the next Magical Cats Mystery and to find out if Marcus gets together with Kathleen. A very pleasant book that I highly recommend. A series too good to miss!
This book was filled with humor, truly scary episodes that will have you gasping, and ends with you feeling the love that tightens the bond of the residents from the past to current days and onwards.
Hercules and Owen are present and they help all they can to solve these murders. I do wish Kathleen had someone she could share 'their' secret with though.
This was a rich and satisfying mystery novel. I look forward to the next installment.
are nice cozy books to read with a drink to accommodate them. I really do like the way Sophie Kelly writes. All I can say is try them and see what you think
