It did underline i will probably need to hire multiple editors all the same, but then didnt deliver the meat and potatoes of doing anything much for yourself. A beginner however, could learn more in the one place from this book. But, ive accumulated the same knowledge at the point im at. I expected more depth and how tos that i could use when i downloaded it.
I did practice some editing while reading, though. Guess my self editing level is eagle eyed outside of Word. "Right" instead of write and "your" instead of "you're" - so i practiced some editing by reading this. My main issue is the title. A copyediting guide. Full stop. "How to" misled me. So, for anyone else a bit let down, try changing the font or medium (print copy, formating etc) to help you catch errors. But as for the how to, this is strictly a guide how to, and given how differently we speak english in my part of the world, i didnt think it should have "how to polish your writing like a pro" because i read that entirely different than "copyediting guide, the basics to know about what is needed to polish writing like a pro"
