I loved it. Hero was so supportive and protective. He was so wonderful to the heroine. The chemistry btwn them was great and you do get some little details on enjoyment of each other on their wedding night. Heroine was really traumatized and brutalized by the dad. You get details of that but no behind door action. Lol. Anyway the ending was also intense and suspenseful. The heroine got her HEA but we are left hanging on something that I hope can get resolved with 2nd book. So even though you get HEA and epilogue I still felt it was left with a small cliffhanger. Wanted to know what happened tot he brother. Did he die or not? Will he get his own story later?!?!
I recommend you read it. Especially if you like clean books with behind the door actions. Just wish there had been a spicy version to buy like some other authors give. It is a safe read. No OW/OM. Heroine is emotionally, verbally and brutally physically abused so be warned. The hero is so loving and caring in helping the heroine heal. Recommend this read.
Susan Horsnell has a touch if everything in this story. There is adventure, fear, evil and good, suspense, romance and a HEA!
Cora is a young woman of 18 who needs a job to be able to live. Her life had never been easy and isn't now. She decides to take a chance, one that will truly take her on an adventure. John is a young rancher who is ready to settle down and start a family. He is a man of high morals and very level headed.
Fantastic character and scenery descriptions make this stand out, as a reader you really get taken into their world. I enjoyed the travelling I did with Cora on her way to get away from he evil father. The interaction with the Indians was fascinating and beautifully written.
I can honestly say I recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a light romance that makes the reader feel great!
Her strength and determination is what helped her to survive, along with the love of her wonderful husband.
I don't feel one bit sorry that her father was killed, I was sad that Cora's brother and his girlfriend were killed, maybe just maybe they really weren't. Her fathers partner should have died! What horrible men those two were.
It was so nice of Chief Gopher and his people to help heal Cora. If only white men would have learned to live alongside the Indians just think of all they could have learned and accomplished from each other.
Susan this was a wonderful story. Suggestion.....write a sequel where Cora's brother and Mary come to see her and tell what that other evil man did. Now I'd love to read that story!
Thank you for writing this book Susan
