Attach Hybrid cordless hot glue gun for versatile crafting/battery powered, no drip gun with standing design/works with high or low Temp glue sticks/item #0280
From the Manufacturer
For dual power technology, choose Ad Tech's Multi Temp Hybrid Cordless glue gun with an AC power cord option. Ideal for longer use, the Hybrid Cordless gun can be used in three modes: battery powered cordless (4 AA rechargeable batteries); plugged in with its own 5-foot AC power cord; or battery powered and AC powered when extra output is needed. When used in combination, the AC cord will keep the Hybrid Cordless ready for use at any time without draining the battery power. The Hybrid Cordless is ideal for day-long activities or any lengthy projects where the glue gun is needed at a moment's notice - no restart or warm-up is required. This gun features a precision nozzle, a power on light identifying battery or cord use, and a wide stable base.

Even though they recommend 2500 mAh AA batteries I decided to try my 2000 mAh Eneloops which I use alot and I could just leave them in the gun for weeks between uses if need be...Same voltage only less capacity...It took 4 minutes for the glue to flow and stick, even though waiting another minute or two, the glue gets hotter..I ran three 4" glue sticks continuosly while the glue remained very hot all the way..This passed my test for sure...Of course using both the 12v and 120v you get a VERY hot 25w high temp glue gun...I used the mult-temp glue sticks by the Adhesive Tech as well... Adhesive Technologies 220-34ZIP100 Multi Temp Mini Glue, 4-Inch, 100-Pack
I didn't test how long the batteries would last as I didn't want to waste the glue...They claim 75 minutes but 30 minutes would easily cover 99% of my jobs..
I wanted a portable glue gun that I could turn on and in about 5 minutes or less gluing a project...Usually these projects only need a minute or two of gluing and mostly a 120v plug was not handy..This gun has easily met my expectations..I also like the way it stands upright and with the weight of the batteries it's not easy to accidently tip over...Plus I don't have to worry as much where I sit it down as compared to others..The glue didn't drip even once after the trigger was released while using in various conditions/settings for about 30 minutes...
The only complaint I have is the batteries don't automatically charge when the 120v cord is plugged in...They need to be removed and charged...
My old one was not cordless and I needed a portable one to move around. It only took a few minutes for me to start gluing from when I plugged it in. This gun can used cordless or corded so if you need to use it and the batteries are not charged, just plug it in and wait a little bit and you will be able to use it pretty much right away. I also love the fact that I can stand this gun up so it will not burn the surface. Even though my other one did not burn the surfaces, it was probably because I always put something under it so that would not happen. Now with a free standing one, I don't have to worry about it. It seems sturdy when it stands so it would not be easy to tip over either. The glue didn't drip even once after the trigger was released while using it for an extended period of time.
I bought this because I wanted something a little more precise for some detail work I'm doing and thought this would be ideal but it isn't. And in fact, the precision tip that is mentioned isn't any better than the B&D. In fact, the blue plastic housing around the tip makes it actually a bit less useful.
It's not without its merits: The base is stable; it heats quickly and feeds glue smoothly and seems to have a quick recovery time so you can pretty much glue at will, but ONLY if using it corded. It's build quality isn't bad at all and the trigger is substantial for what it is and overall it's a good budget product.
But it's got lots of issues that, for even a "hybrid" cordless product leave it wanting, at least for me. For starters, there is not a battery charging circuit in this gun, and this is not stated anywhere in the description. It's not a huge cost to add that circuit and for the life of me I don't see why they didn't. And the battery door is a hassle to open and then there's the expense for those of you who don't already have rechargeable batteries and chargers. So, if you are planning on using this a lot, then you need to factor in the cost of a couple sets of batteries and a charger. That can add another $25+ to the cost of this gun, which to me makes it noncompetitive with other products out there.
Also, the description says 500mah batteries recommended but the user guide says minimum 2500mah batteries. I knew the 500 was a misprint but assumed the 1900 that I had were sufficient (and actually they are but they don't last very long).
And I'm not a fan of Black and Decker at all for tools but I like this one: Black & Decker 20v Cordless Glue Gun System
At $65, it has a Li-ion battery and charger that lasts about 40 minutes on a charge of actual use. It's light, more precise than this little gun and uses full size sticks.
