About the Author

B.G. Hennessy grew up in Wantagh on Long Island, NY. At the University of Wisconsin in Madison, she majored in fine art and learned how to design, print and bind handmade books. She also took courses in Children’s Literature. The combination of form and content in the picture book format fascinated her and after graduation she headed for NYC where she worked for 17 years in children’s book publishing as a designer and art director. She is the author of Road Builders and The First Night, as well as many books starring Corduroy, the loveable toy bear created by Don Freeman. She now lives with her family in Arizona.

My toddler loves Corduroy and A Pocket for Corduroy, unfortunately many of the newer Corduroy books are not similar to Don Freeman's original two Corduroy stories, but Corduroy Lost and Found is. This book is has the same scratch drawings and similar text as Freeman's original Corduroy books and my daughter really enjoys the story of Corduroy's adventure to find the perfect birthday present for Lisa. Recommended for fans of the original Corduroy books.

As owner of a children's bookstore, mother of 5, and LONG time fan of Don Freeman's books, I have often wished he had written more than 2 books about Corduroy!

Many favorite characters from children's literature have suffered at the hands of commercial endeavors and adaptations (think Curious George, Winnie the Pooh and even Corduroy), but this book is the exception.

The collaborators have made a thoughtful contribution to Don Freeman's legacy in EVERY way. The story line is completely true to the originals -- and the illustrations completely capture the feel of the original books.

What a fun project this must have been... and what a great accomplishment!! I own the book and will be buying up more before it goes out of print, which I suspect it will unless more Corduroy fans find out about it quickly.

The illustrations in this book were good enough that my 2 year old son could tell when Corduroy was happy, sad, scared, and then happy once more. Reading emotions on others' faces is a necessary skill for a child to learn and this book is great for helping kids develop empathy and sympathy.

We have a nearly two year old grandson that loves books and has a library of favorites. I enjoy getting him a new one every month. This one was a favorite he found at the library and now it is in his library.

This is the second book I bought for my daughter as she sees Corduroy on tivo and she asked me for the books. It's a nice story about a night time escape of Cordoroy in order to find a gift for Lisa's birthday.
It's perfect before going to sleep as it's short but has a good plot. It's one of the books I read and reread to my daughter as she always asks me. She likes very much the idea of the bear going alone and then the happy end. The illustration are also nice.

I love this book. Corduroy is always a great read. The book I got wasn't in the best quality, but if you were getting it new, I highly recommend. He's a great friend for young kids and I think having this book for your collection is a must.

If you are a parent or grandparent, get the Corduroy series for your kids
to learn to read and understand life. I can still remember how my middle
son loved his Corduroy books and carried them everywhere he went.
Must be a good thing, he is a surgeon now! You can't go wrong!

Purchased as one of two follow-up Corduroy books for my niece because she loved the original Corduroy book that I had given her. She was so happy with her new Corduroy adventures and I am very pleased. Little girls love love this little bear.
