I bought this monster brand new at a local store for less than 1/2 of what Amazon's price is! Guess it was a great buy, huh?

This was a present for my wife, who has bought board after board, all of which cracked or split (and we hand washed them, too). I loved how large this board is. For starters, it is bamboo, so it should hold out for a good, long time. It also seems to be extremely sturdy and well-made. It sets upon 4 round, bamboo feet, so the underneath will not get soaked with any liquids that may go over the sides and make a mess. The 3 stainless bowls are a really great addition. They hold quite a bit and are slightly recessed into the board. There is a cut-out area on the side of each bowl to get your finger beneath so that they can be easily removed.

After some use, it is holding up quite well. In fact, she is using it as I type. I have used it once, also, and am impressed.

The only downside is that we do not have a good place to store it. It is large and heavy. I will probably have to clear out a shelf beneath the counter so that it is accessible.

5 of 5. I will update after some use later in the year. No more crappy IKEA stuff for us!

NOTE: You may want to shop around for this board. It may be found elsewhere for a lower price. Sorry Amazon vendors.

NOTE #2: I must state that in order to keep this (or any wooden) cutting board in good condition so it will last a long time, buy "FOOD SAFE" Mineral Oil to treat it. This is NOT the Mineral Oil used for cleaning paint brushes or used as a thinner. The Food Safe Mineral Oil is usually found at Kitchen Stores (even online with searching). Use per directions on bottle.

Just bought this on a WOOT special. I agree that the size and heft of the product is excellant. this board, however, has a very rough finish on it, unlike my current bamboo board which is end-grain and well finished (this board is constructed of several layers laminated together- crosswise- for strength). I mention this because when I chop, I use a scoop to pick-up (recomended, as opposed to using your knife). The cups are nice to move my vegetables to, but are not very big (maybe a cup and a half?). the roughness of the board makes it harder to scrape items to the cup, and herbs seem to really hard to move, staining the board too. It sits up from the work surface about 3", which also takes some getting used to. The instructions that come with the board are minimal- merely advise washing it with warm soap and water and drying (bamboo boards can split- even the laminated ones- so do not soak in water- e). I found these care instructions online. I am also looking for info on smoothing the rough finish:
Condition
Before you make your first cut, drizzle that board with mineral oil and rub it in with a soft, dry cloth. The oil moisturizes the wood, helps to avoid splitting, and gives the bamboo that lovely burnished look. Repeat this every day for about a week, then condition your boards once a month thereafter.

Wash
Wash your cutting boards in warm, soapy water after every use. If you're a real stickler, you should dry them after each use as well, but I prop mine up in the dish rack to dry, and my boards are still in great shape.

Disinfect
If you use your bamboo boards for meats, it's important to disinfect them after each use. Dissolve one part vinegar in five parts water, and use a sponge to scrub down the board. Rinse and dry as usual.

I've been using almost daily for months and love it.

Tons of chopping space, convenient to scrape chopped items into bowls during cooking prep. Note that both Pyrex and AnchorHocking custard cups fit in the bowl compartments too, if 3 bowls aren't enough. I love it and would buy again.

Things to think about (tho they don't bother me)--it is quite heavy and pretty big, so it would be a total pain to store. I leave mine out on the prep area of my countertop and wipe it down like a would a butcher block counter. Also, the finish is not as smooth as some other brands (like Totally Bamboo). The sides and bowl cutouts were sort of rough. I actually sanded it a bit when I got it before oiling it for the first time. And I do oil it about one a month. I just make sure it has completely dried and oil it before bed. I wipe off the excess before using the bect day (like I said, I leave it out on the counter so this oiling routine is pretty easy).

This is an awesome cutting board. Nice, hard bamboo and plenty of room. The little cups are very convenient for keeping the various ingredients. I love it.

I bought this because I saw the one my sister-in-law had. Love that its feet hold it in place, it doesn't slide around and so handy to have the bowls. This is a heavy board so it's not easily moved on and off the counter. I wanted to keep mine on the counter so it works for me, but if you want to put away after use, get your muscles ready.

My kitchen has granite countertops that I don't want getting stained or knicked, so I got this for my husband to give him a good-sized prep space on the counter. He loves it and uses it all the time! He hasn't had any problems with it slipping, and the removable, dishwasher-safe bowls are really handy. He's been using it since July and still loves it. It also looks beautiful, so we just leave it on the counter all the time.
