In terms of story this is a good read, a bit slow at times, but it picks up and keeps the reader entertained throughout. Some of the character motivations seem nebulous at the beginning, but they evolve through the story to give them some real depth. The relationships between the characters do not feel forced and paint an interesting alien society.
My biggest critique of the book would have to be the editing. The book could have used one more pass through the proofing process as there were multiple times where the wrong word, punctuation, extra or missing words, made a sentence hard to follow. There was also a small issue with perspective hopping, while it doesn’t happen often, the POV shifts were sudden with no preamble and would present the same scene from numerous perspectives. This made following the scene harder at times.
