Pros: Good software at its core. Many features, was able to edit some very nice video clips.
Cons: I upgraded to X7 in hopes of multiprocessor support. After all, video editing and rendering is one of the heaviest tasks a creative professional can do on their computer. I have a 4 core i7 4790k and was hoping to leverage its power with this program and burn through render times. I rendered a simple video at first with just the background video and a soundtrack over it. To my joy it rendered the video using all cores and threads. I then rendered a more complex video with layers and soundtrack and it only used one core at most. Pretty disapointed that the programming is not thorough.
Also the vaunted "64 bit power" which means certain functions are able to take advantage of 64 bit programming instructions was lackluster at best. In the previous version (x6 Pro) I rendered out a multi-layered video in 23 minutes, 33 secconds. The same identical video rendered in x7 Pro took 21 minutes, 22 seconds. Very... Underwhelming. Windows 7, 64 bit pro used for both renders.
Ultimately VS Pro x7 is solid for the price and has a good amount of features that would most likely satisfy any normal consumer. I found it to be reasonably stable and pretty easy to learn using youTube video tutorials. However the advanced features that enthusiasts or pro-sumers are looking for in this product are poorly implemented and will not use your hardware to its fullest. For anything past average consumer/fun/light use, look elsewhere.
