I tried a French cut green bean casserole topped with French's Crispy Fried Onions and the outcome was perfect. This Corningware Casserole Dish is a keeper for sure. Have some leftovers, just pop on the lid and in the Frig it goes. :)
I have only used it to make the French Boule bread that Laura Calder made on her show 'French Cooking/Food at Home'. Her vessel was a 2 1/2 qt. porcelain enamel, be it Le Creuset, Lodge or whatever. However, I did not have that size. Also, she had to preheat hers and it was apparent that when she removed it from the preheating, it was extremely hot. Also, that is not light cookware.
So, getting this piece was lighter and I have found it does not require the preheating. Some have complained about the light glass top, preferring the heavy glass piece. Having looked at both types of tops, I feel this one is more secure in place, though perhaps more prone to breakage if dropped by accident.
So, I recommend this. Hope this helps. Enjoy, Robert
