This book does minorly tie in with the books in the Super Powereds series, but not in a way that I think makes reading them necessary. Even though you should, they're great examples of the genre. I really hope we get to see more in this spinoff series, either from Titan (love me some OP strongmen, ie: One Punch Man) or from the PEERS (Corpies).
I love getting to see inside Titan's life and thoughts, he's a really well written character. Many times (and this is true of all of Drew Hayes' books) I forget that I'm reading, and that these are words on a page made up by another person.
Also, this is a shining example of how to incorporate non-straight characters into stories.
Like all good books, I couldn't wait to turn the page (well it's on a Kindle, but you know what I mean) to see what happens next, and then all too soon I reached the very satisfying end.
I love independent authors and am so glad Amazon gives great talents like Drew the opportunity to get their books published. For the life of me, I can't figure out why some Giant soulless publishing house hasn't scooped him up for an exclusive 700 book deal-- but I bet he'd turn down the offer just so he can keep writing his way.
I can only say that if you are looking for a fun read that pretty much sets the standards for character development and heart, then you should buy this book. You won't regret it.
Okay, maybe not...Titan is as real as a character in a book can get. He's been mentioned in passing and seen a few brief times in Hayes' excellent `Super Powered' series, but this time he's the star. Deservedly so.
Now, when you look up `superhero' in the dictionary, you rightfully expect to see Titan's picture. He's not perfect...quite flawed, in fact. But he still keeps trying to do the best he can with what he has. That's a hero, in my book.
