The reason I did not give it 5 stars was due to inaccuracies. If you’re writing a book in a specific city then do research about the city. The Mississippi is not in Forest Park by the Boat House. Lake St. Louis is not big enough to have a harbor even with “small” yachts on it, and the harbor she did name is on the Mississippi River which has never been called a “lake”.

Taking a job at the morgue to support her Mother and Grand, she lands in hot water when a body is stolen in her watch. She has to clear her name to pay the rent and with the help of a hunky mystery man and a gorgeous reporter, along with a cast of comical characters, she sets out to solve the mystery. Love the characters and can’t wait to read the next book.

This is one of those books you have to read awhile and not give up on, because initially it's pretty silly. But as the book progressed, I started to like better the character, Kat, and the silly became amusing at times. However, some situations that are presumably intended to be comical, are annoyingly contrived and ridiculous, and the story tends to be a little disorderly and lacking in cohesion, suddenly jumping from scene to scene. It is very reminiscent of a Janet Evanovich writing style, written more for laughs than substance. But there is enough enjoyable entertainment as a quick, light read to make it worth your while.
