STEP 1: Prepare the Surface

STEP 1: To start, remove large pieces of rust scale so Corroseal has a surface of fine rust to convert. This will avoid chipping later.

Don't remove rust, convert rust. Corroseal rust converter is an elite, industrial strength product for all your marine, household, automotive, and industrial rust problems. Extend the life of your metal equipment by protecting it from rust and corrosion. Rust occurs naturally when the iron in steel oxidizes and returns to its original state, iron oxide. Through an innovative chemical conversion process, Corroseal Rust Converter converts rust into a stable substance, magnetite. It also primes the surface with a high quality latex metal primer at the same time. Corroseal truly provides one step corrosion control. Corroseal is the best way to deal with rust because it is less expensive, less time consuming, and is much more than sandblasting. Corroseal eliminates the need to sandblast rust by chemically converting rust from iron oxide to magnetite, a black and inert substance. Corroseal rust converter is your best rust treatment and corrosion control option because it meets all your metal surface preparation needs by converting the rust and priming the metal surface at the same time.

There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
Rather than cover territory other reviewers have shared, let me just share a few tips on how to use Corroseal effectively.
Tip one, use a needle scaler. Many of the "failed" photos here it's obvious that this important step was missed. Only a needle scaler (or chipping hammer if you have the patience) will remove layered rust. A wire brush or sandpaper will not remove layers. Start with a needle scaler.
Tip two, sand paper. Wire brushes can gloss over the rust and create a burnished layer. Use sand paper to expose and remove loose rust.
Tip three, don't use oil based cleaners before application. Also don't use soap...duh, YouTube people. Rubbing alcohol is cheap and works well for this step.
Tip four, apply in a thick layer. This might just be the most valuable tip I can share on Corroseal. Don't just brush on a layer and leave. Brush on a layer, wait 15 minutes and then brush on another. Wait 15 minutes again and brush on another layer. Most applications fail or develop brown spots on top because the product was not applied thick enough. Be generous with it, lay it on thick.
I used this sample around my house for small rusted objects
I must say i learned that this product does wonders when it come to converting rust.
No doubt the best product i have ever used
I purchased a fixer uper Bush Hog for my tractor which had some pretty heavy to light rust recently.
I knew right what to do, i purchased a gallon of Corroseal to tackle this project!
The wheels were rust free for two weeks, but I was hoping to get a few years. Then little dots of red and brown rust started to poke thru the surface. Next summer I will have to strip them down, sand-blast, acid wash them and powder coat them.... like I should have done from the beginning.
I am writing this review 5 months later and have to say I am very happy with the project and now my trailer will take the elements much better.

Corroseal has the smell, color, and viscosity of white Elmer's glue perhaps a bit thinner.
I applied it at first with a pump up sprayer which splattered but could get to hard to reach areas.
I eventually used a basic air paint sprayer getting a much more even coverage.
This product is pricey but you can tell the rust is converted into a dark hard surface.
I will be painting over that also and we'll see the results come next year
Despues se puede pintar con pintura acrilica.
Les consejo de lijar el oxido antes de darle el producto para un acabado profesional.
